if I recall correctly Bregman got a call in the 3rd round and turned down the offer.

He may have but that doesn’t change the fact that comparing Turang and Bregman isn’t apples to apples.....passing on 3rd round money betting on yourself to do better is not the same as passing on 3.5 to 4 mil.

Look I hope that Turang comes to LSU just as much as the next guy but you don’t have to conjur this whack arse notion that turning down 3.5 to 4 mil is the “right” move like half the people in this thread.

You’re also 3 years closer to that MLB contract. Which IS life-changing money.

I’ve heard SEC baseball compared to high A-AA ball.

You've heard very wrong. The SEC is considered the highest level of college baseball, but is more equivalent to low full season A ball or short season A ball.

It's probably higher than Rookie league, but it's nowhere near double A.

So if that's the case IMO Brice should go to college get his degree,

That’s is finitely not a given for baseball because you have to play the summers. How far along will he be in 3 years? How many graduate with degrees that leave early? I bet those that don’t FAR outnumber those that do.

As CPM said - it would be a huge upset if this guy turned down close to 4 MM to go to school. I would in fact question his mental capacity!
As far as hot women, are you kidding me? I played years ago and go to a lot of games and can tell you it is the same as it was then at all levels - women LOVE BASEBALL PLAYERS!

there is another thread that breaks down the time from high school for first round picks versus college and high school gets there sooner - think Carlos Correra.
Also, the 500K is the same for rookies in MLB until that first contract... there is no other signing bonus.

The only advantage as I’ve stated on here before is it really believes that going to college will greatly improve his draft selection from now to offset investing some of the signing bonus money and getting to 500K /year in the MLB a 1-2 quicker ie 1 Million.
So say he is offered 4MM now, could he get to say 7 with a higher draft selection in 3 years?

when people actually stop being stupid and think that this kid should reject a 4 MM now by coming to LSU because it fits their little purple and gold koolaid infected brains, I’ll stop typing in CAPS. There is no justification as CPM indirectly said when he commented that “it would be an upset” if he came to LSU and he would certainly understand because 3 MM is a lot of money to walk away from. In fact it was YEARS worth of salary for him to earn before his big contract.

Can we just post in this thread when we get new news about this “watch”? This other shite is nonsense and you posting it won’t change Mr Turangs decision.
Thanks. Please enjoy the rest of your day.

Hey, Intensekid wish I could've given you more than 1 upvote buddy. Just glad that the Turang family isn't listing to some of the financial arse clowns on here for his situation. Whatever is his decision I wish him the absolute best.

Thanks. Had not thought about that. Will go find his email address since obviously all of these posts were intended for his eyes only.

Brewers beat writer hinting that they’ve signed Davis Daniel from Auburn. This is their 11th round pick who probably signed for over slot. Kid had a lot of potential and shut LSU down. I’ll be curious to see what they signed him for. Could be impactful in the Turang watch.

Hoping to see and maybe chat with #Brewers RHP draft picks Davis Daniel (11th round, Auburn) and Joey Matulovich (20th, Cal) as their Cape League teams square off tonight in Wareham. Both last pitched last week and have thrown well. I'll have contracts in hand.

If they somehow don’t sign Turang, they will have a decent amount of money to overslot some guys in the late round. Including the 5% overage, they will be able to offer someone a 1M contract or they can offer 2 guys a 500k contract. Plus, they get a comp pick, so it’s not all that bad if they somehow lose him

He may be referring to the money over slot set aside for Turang.

I got a lot of downvotes for telling people that high level minor league baseball is way above SEC baseball. Weird. You would think that would be apparent solely based on how many players in the SEC never even sniff AA, but I guess not when you're dealing with people who think that a discussion on whether or not Alabama could beat the Cleveland Browns is worthwhile.

A single SEC all star team could compete and win some games. But that’s an apples and oranges comparison (I know you know). Minor league ball isn’t a team sport. Its about the individual players. No one cares about wins and losses so no pitchers are stretched, no one is bunting to get runners in scoring position, no hit and runs, and steal attempts aren’t predicated on anything most games.
