A cold & rainy Liberty bowl loss
I remember Gordy saying they were eating patio burritos in the parking lot of a gas station and someone raised the burrito up and said Happy New Year or something like that.

Tony Moss was fun to watch. Electric with the ball.

This sounds like 98 also.

I've never heard of this. Please elaborate.

on a side note, one of the most stupid LSU administration decisions was then AD Bob Broadhead approving players from the 1985 football team to drive their personal vehicles to Memphis for the Liberty Bowl. Half the team showed up drunk and stoned. LSU was 9-1-1 and ranked 10th. On paper Baylor didn't have a chance. Instead, LSU got embarrassed as the game wasn't even close. Offense didn't score a point and only had 91 yds. rushing with Hilliard and James in the backfield. Baylor had 489 total yds, to LSU's 192. Only bright spot was Norman Jefferson returning a punt for a 79 yd TD. What a clusterfuk that game and decision was
Um, no not Broadhead- Arnsparger made his call, he thought bowl games were a joke if not playing for a NC, thus him getting blown out in all 3 bowls we made while he was there.

Played in an 8 1/2 goal tournament against Hodson, Moss, Todd Kinchen
Todd Kinchen was an absolute beast in those tourneys. Elite athlete.

John hazard stood on the hood of a car with a 7-11 hot dog and yelled “merry fing Christmas”
I think Gordy was still in HS in 85

That was more Arnsparger than Broadhead.
He was the second best LSU football coach of my lifetime, but he absolutely did not give two shits about bowl games. In the two Sugar Bowls he played in between the Liberty Bowl, it was pretty much the same deal, where the players had free reign the whole time before the games.

1989 was better than 1998. That '89 team DID play defense; lack of any running game and special-teams snafus were their weak links.

Many a thread on here over the years about best all around athlete and he is always on the list. What if he never tore his ACL? BTW his brother was a solid TE and a big part of 82 team’s success.

Don’t know about any fights, but when Hodson’s buddies through a bachelor party for him in NOLA they passed through the Hofbrau. Hodson tossed his cookies in the middle of the bar. You had to walk through it to get to the bar. Good times!

Brian Kinchen was a Tiger from 1984-1987.
The stud TEs in 1982 were Mitch Andrews and Malcolm Scott.

I’ve stated this before 1989 football team .. archer states we’ve got the best special teams in the country .
That last about 10 seconds when a&m returned the opening kick off. As a 10 year I knew it was gonna be a rough season.
I didn’t expect a rough six years
1998 - freshmen year I still have nightmares of Quincy Carter completing pass as booger macfarland chased him down
