Orgeron is joined at the hip with Ensminger now. All the wishful thinkers wanting him to hire a 3rd OC next season are dreaming. They will either succeed together or fail together. The AD, whether Alleva or someone else down the road, will wish to clean house and start from scratch with an entirely new coaching staff. But for now Orgeron's buyout is as follows: 2018 $8.5 million, 2019 $6 million, 2020 $4.5 million, and 2021 $1 million
Miles' buyout to cost LSU $9 million over 6 years.

Listen

If theyre hanging over a crevasse and attached by a rope and Either E goes or Both goes...

One of them is cutting that rope sooner or later.

Listen, AD Alleva isn't going to let Coach O fire another OC, after the Matt Canada debacle. He's on his second OC, so he has to live with his current hire.

IMO, the only way LSU has a new OC next season is if Ensminger steps down. No way he gets fired.

God, I can't believe Alleva did this shite. How could you possibly be this confident in O.

I could see E stepping down and going back to a position coach. He’d claim family or medical reasons.

I'm not speculating that CSE will be fired. I hope he isn't.

I'm hoping he resigns as OC and steps back to position coaching, so we can pick up Briles the younger or Freeze.

Wishful thinking, I know. But I don't think there are many openly calling for CSE to be terminated altogether when he was literally begged to take the OC job and didn't even want it. He's done what he can, above and beyond what most coaches would. He's just not an OC any more, so let him slide back and make room for someone who is.

I think you are right here and if things fall apart the rest of the season, I think E is the kind of guy that will voluntarily step down for O.

He is joined at the hip. He will not ask for his resignation or fire him.

That's pretty much the consensus of the Rant. We all know he will have to step down for change to be made.

This isn't entirely accurate. The salary O is paid counts against his buyout, and the buyout amount "resets" every year on Jan 01 at those levels.

So, assuming he is paid once a month as I believe he does his buyout today would be $8.5M - 3.208M = $5.292M paid out over time. And contrary to what most thought, his buyout was not out of line with other coaches hired at the time.

Many people have said that. My only hesitation with that idea is that Orgeron is saying publicly that he thinks Ensminger is doing a terrific job. Is he just saying that to not throw E under the bus or does he really believe that? Would Orgeron try to talk him into staying? It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

It wasn't bad at all. The first two amounts were never going to be paid. I just read an article on inexplicable buyouts, and LSU was not mentioned. Ten were.
