Wade is 12th among all active D-1 HC's in winning % (minimum of 5 seasons). Two spots behind a guy named Izzo and three spots behind a guy named Pitino
This needs to be pinned at the top of tiger rant.
No one should be able to shite on that. End of story.

This boards obsession with Wade is insane. I don’t know anyone in real life that loses their mind over the Wade situation like this place does.
ETA: and I think Wade is a very good coach.

Absolutely loved the guy and his passion for LSU along with energy brought to the program. Absolutely hate that he wasn’t smart enough to not get caught.

I dont know anyone in real life that even wants to talk about LSU basketball anymore besides the occasional "they suck". Even a couple I know that had season tickets didn't renew them and they kind of just shrug their shoulders and want to talk about something else the rare times I try to bring it up.

Our basketball threads feel like politics. I don’t agree w either side enough to attach myself to it, but both sides have points.
The obsession w Will Wade has less to do w him & more to do w the state of the program before & after him. He was an above average coach & ran an above average program at a school that hadn’t had either in about 20 years. The fact that he’s still coaching in Louisiana at a lesser school (which should give context to his national value) drives his most loyal fans crazy. It speaks more to the state of LSU Basketball than Wade as a coach. They think he’s the best we can get. And if SW keeps digging in the MID-major dumpster like a fricking stray dog, they might be right.

quote:oh, more than half the posters on this board would suck off Will Wade if they thought It would get him back to LSU or throw in their wifes to do it. either way it’s fricking pathetic and sad and Will Wade is not coming back to LSU.
just don’t get it. He could recruit but was a shitty X’s and O’s guy when it came down to playing competition
Talk about complete stalker mentality here.

Wade is going to have his pick of jobs. Dude is 42 with 8 NCAAT appearances, 2 NIT appearances, never had a losing record through 4 different programs.
The smoothies on here probably didn’t watch more than 10 games combined under TJ and CJJ.

John Brady went to the F4. Let’s bring him back. LOL

False. He’ll get a job at a place similar to LSU where he’ll have to continue to prove himself in hopes of getting that job you speak of afterwards. If he had his choice he probably wouldn’t be coaching in college at all.

Calipari at 42 could say the same along with a final four appearance w UMass & Title game appearance at Memphis. He’s not considered a great coach. Wade’s record is marginally impressive on a national scale. It’s enough to get a cult following at LSU. Which, again, speaks more to the state of the program than him as a coach.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Calipari is a HOFer and will go down as one of the 20 greatest coaches in CBB history.

His teams have finished in the top two of their conference in eight of his 11 years, dating back to his time at Chattanooga. He's now guided three different programs to the NCAA Tournament in six of the last seven years.
Yea, he fricking sucks.

I think it would be interesting to know the process of how these completely ignorant opinions get formed. Do these people just read the rant and get all of their basketball info here? Do they take bits and pieces from here and project opinions from other sports with what they believe are similar circumstances? To be as factually incorrect but as confident as they are it has to come from somewhere. They don’t follow basketball, there’s no question about that, so what’s driving it?

He won the conference with one second round draft pick lmao
Then failed to build upon that in his last 3 years at LSU with each year slightly worse than the one before.

I agree. I’d still argue he isn’t a great coach, but I guess it’s based on what your idea of great is.
