Now, you’ve got Jobert out of the lineup. Non starter for me. Jobert in RF. Gio doesn’t give you enough defensively to make up for what you lose by taking Jobert out of the lineup.

Jobert is 2 for 12 against teams not named Maine, Southern, Townson, and UNO.

Gio stroked a couple of balls this weekend, but just hit them right at people.

With that being said, I'm intrigued by Jobert in RF. I think you have to move Berry to DH.

Respectable considering Tech & OKLA both started tough lefties. Gio, conversely has been complete trash vs LHP, historically

I’ll agree with the first part but you’re replacing Jobert with Gio. No thanks.

I found the guy who will trade two errors for one more hit.

Thompson is fielding .774. I'm right there with all of the Berry can't play anywhere and Doughty needs to be at 3B, etc. But, our starting SS can't field .774. If you're looking to improve your defense, either Thompson improves or he's gotta go...it all starts and ends right there up the middle.

Gio is batting .333 with 6 RBI in only 15 AB. I don't think Gio is the best player ever, but I think he's good enough to where he could split time with Jobert in RF.

Hopefully JJ throws Jobert in LF this midweek so we can see what he does defensively

Idk why we didn’t try Dugas at 2B in the fall. If I remember correctly, he played 2B some his freshman year.

We have so many talented bats in the OF fighting for ABs.

The infatuation with Digiacomo is weird

I agree. So is the casualness with the way people want to take Jobert out of the lineup. He is a top 5 bat on the team. 6 at worst. His just being in the lineup extends it significantly. Gio is a nice player. But he’s not an everyday starter on this team unless somebody gets hurt.

But I think at some point you've got to give some of these players (Gio, Bianco, etc) some starts if you really want to evaluate them

All these guys were evaluated in the Fall and preseason. They all had numerous ABs and chances in the field. Johnson got a good idea of what they all can do.

But sometimes guys don’t pan out when they turn the lights on and adjustments have to be made. Sometimes guys catch on and improve enough to be considered as starters. Sometimes injuries happen and force changes. We have seen this already.

Moving forward I suspect we will see what Johnson thinks are better options than what we see playing now.

Jobert wasn’t even a starter on day one.

Jay doesn't seem like he wants Dugas in the lineup at all. It's weird.

I think some (myself included) just don't view Jobert as a lock as a starter. He started off the year red hot and has cooled down some. Should he continue to get ABs? Absolutely. Should he continue to be the DH? Absolutely not. Should he get a shot to win the RF position? Absolutely.

Jobert for Gio is just a weird switch. Would you rather LH that K’s but also walks & hits for power vs a LH that K’s & hits singles and has some speed

If we are talking a RH/LH platoon, sure. But I don’t think Jobert is the guy he’s vying to steal ABs from

You say this as if Jobert is a known commodity. If Jobert is a can hit .300, slug .500 and hit 8-10 HRs then I'll agree with you. But we don't know if he's that guy yet.

Jobert’s first 6-7 games granted him the chance to get ABs to see if he is that guy or not. He hasn’t been bad enough to lose those ABs yet

True
And he’s definitely the DH versus righties right now.

For lefties? Berry.
But we’d need a right handed hitting OFer,
Who you got?

You missing the main part of the switch. Ideally Berry would be able to hold down a position, and we could keep DHing Jobert. That's the ideal hitting lineup. Don't think anybody would argue that.

However, it's becoming clear that Berry isn't going to come close to cutting it in the field. Berry isn't leaving the lineup, so DH is now occupied.

Now the question becomes is Joberts defense enough of an improvement over Berry to put him in RF. I don't know the answer to that. It's possible that it's viewed as Gio gives way more defensively, while also being able to contribute to the lineup, even if it's not quite as much as Jobert.
