Hopefully safeties are fearing him throwing deep and stay deep...if so, and the CBs are man-up on WRs, running lanes open up for QBs.

He is a better runner than people realize.
When he is running the offense full time he will use his legs and surprise alot of people.
In the past the only times he really got in the games was garbage time cleanup where he wanted to showcase his arm. Running was never with intent other than to keep the play alive while always looking down field.

The jury is still out on Nuss's running ability. We'll find out more after the bowl game

When I watch him play I can't help but think of Baker Mayfield at OU. Their throwing style, scrambling in the pocket, willingness to take risks all look identical. Mayfield was probably a bit faster as a runner, but I think Nussmeier is good enough to pick up 10-15 yards if need be.

This. I think getting all the first team reps with Nabers and Thomas playing in the bowl will tell us a lot about what to expect with him as a full time starter.

He's not going to rush for 1,000 yards, but he has plenty of athleticism. He has shown the ability to escape the pocket and extend plays with his legs, especially in the SECCG last year. I'm interested to see how Denbrock adjusts his playcalling to his new QB's strengths because it was very lack luster when Nuss had to come in as relief.

The important thing is he can "throw on the run". A highly undervalued trait for QBs IMO.

Not really a fair comparison, Jayden did not master the pocket his first 4 seasons starting 43 games, yes this season Jayden was amazing and mastered the pocket. This will be Nuss first game starting, Burrow's first season starting in 2018 was very good and Jayden's feet are amazing and the reason 2022 we won the SEC championship but his pocket awareness was not mastered.
Agree there may be a learning curve for Nuss, this season LSU never separated themselves in most games to give Nuss more playing time.
Jayden Daniels helped turn LSU into a winning team, if JD had transferred to LSU in 2020 Coach O would still be coaching LSU

He will be a traditional QB with the ability to scramble for a 3rd and short to medium or find the open receiver while moving out the pocket. The running game will be left up to the RBs and LSU will get back to having a 1000 yard rusher.
Looking at the top 10 teams in the country and the teams contending for a championship a QB that is dependent on their ability to run is not something that is needed. With time as the #1 and game time reps he will get better at the important parts of being a QB which isn’t being able to run for a 1000 yards. It’s being able to see what the defense is doing presnap and adjust while finding the open receiver.
Looking at the top 10 teams in the country and the teams contending for a championship a QB that is dependent on their ability to run is not something that is needed. have yall watched NUSS play...he doesn't care about safeties or a wr being triple covered. Hopefully he has learned to not trust his arm to throw to wr that are double and triple covered.
We had a qb throw what 7-8 interceptions in 2 years? we will be lucky to see anything close to that next year.

It will be similar to Burrow in terms of speed. He ran well in HS at the highest level of Texas 6A football. He can move in the pocket and scramble for a first down much like JB did. He’s not going to torch defenses running like JD because he doesn’t have JD’s speed. JD has otherworldly speed though.

According to the Nuss Bussers he can throw it over a mountain and run the 40 in 1 second.

Depending on their running and having running as simply part of their game is two different things. Being able to call his # for easy yardage if the defense gives it to you is a nice to have.
Flynn, Mauck, running ability should be a minimum going forward for a QB at LSU. It just makes so much more available if your QB has to be accounted for running the ball in the game plan.

He reminds me a lot of baker as far as skill set goes. Built similar, athletic enough to get a first down but not going to be breaking 50 yd runs.
