I really will never get this boards infatuation with running QBs. It’s not like any of LSUs NCs were won by running QBs.

You guys really struggle to separate “running QBs” with QBs who can run. There has only been 1 QB in the last 10+ years that won a championship moving as little as Nuss does.

He doesn’t HAVE to run, but this offense would be better if he would a few times a game.

It would also be better if he could find some consistency on deep balls.

Neither of those criticisms means he isn’t playing pretty well so far.

Defenses are crashing on the RB on read option plays

A lot of those plays are RPOs, not read options, which fit Nuss’ skill set a lot better. They look similar since the mesh point is still there, but the pull option is to pass, usually on a slant, out or curl. We have finally seen him pass on a few of them, like the TD to Lacy vs USCe.

We also don’t have a true star at wr. Mason is the best receiver we have atm imo

May be true but day in and day out, it's been the same old shite for the past 2 years. The defense hasn't been depended upon to win the game over that time frame, it's been the offense that has.

he's not very good because he can't run. Morons.

I have not seen a single thread that says that. He MUST be a threat to scramble for yards when people are crashing on those backs or when he has it for 5 seconds and nobody is open. They are not spying him so he needs to take advantage of that now and then to keep the defense honest. That is not the same as “running” like Daniels did. Running like Burrow is not too much to ask though.

I feel bad for Nuss. This is a decent corp, but it pales in comparison to what we've had in the last 7 years.

2017 - Chark, Gage, Moreau, Guice
2018 - Jefferson, Chase, Sullivan, Marshall
2019 - Jefferson, Chase, Marshall, Moss, CEH
2020 - Marshall, Gilbert, Boutte,
2021 - Boutte (was elite at the time), Nabers, Thomas, Bech (was good at the time)
2022 - Boutte, Nabers, Taylor, Thomas
2023 - Nabers, Thomas, Taylor, Lacy, Hilton

Now, this team probably has the best version of Taylor, an improved version of Lacy, a good CJ Daniels and Aaron Anderson, and hopefully a good version of Hilton, but it doesn't have the surefire top pick that it's had in the past. I think you need Hilton to be a guy in order for this group to truly take off.

Nussmeier is a really good qb that just needs work on his deep ball. He does miss on some easy throw but there isn't a qb in the history of football that doesn't do that. I'm glad he is our qb.

This is a little misleading. He is that high up in stats because our run game is poor.

Did you say this last year when our running game was inept except when Jayden Daniels tucked it and ran? Did Jayden’s passing stats not really count because of that?

Last year we weren't calling pass plays 60% of the time. Regardless if the lack of running game is helping Nuss' stat line... he has to actually connect on the passing plays for it to matter. He is taking advantage of the lack of run game and being productive.

I agree. That’s the point I’m making in my post. Nuss has to play with the cards dealt to him. It’s not really right to discount his stats and performance based on his situation that’s been dealt to him. He still has to go out there and connect on those plays.

It's not that he "can't" run... it's just that he doesn't. There are moments he should run to extend the drives. He's not a factor in the defensive schemes because they know he won't run.

Last year Kelly himself said they wanted Jayden to run because they knew if he needed to sit to rest he could because we had Nuss to back him up. If that is true then Kelly probably doesn’t want Nuss to run because we do t have someone they trust behind him to finish a game if needed.

If Arch retains the UT starting job there will be a media groundswell for him, deserved or not.

What if they just have 4 draftable WRs? Is that not enough

Lester Earl hates your guts. I'm sure he is in this thread continuing to downplay Nuss. Pikes Peak and DBG and Salvanti are probably there with him.

I remember when fans would throw a fit because our offensive stats would be horrible……but we’d be undefeated and top 10 with a crushing defense and a ball control offense. Good times.
