I would remind them that this year's version of ND would not have made the playoffs/title game under any of the former formats.

Sadly you lsu fans are still in denial. You will learn, but sadly its going to take time for your to see, even as every nd fan warns you.
Kelly is a HORRIBLE big game coach. Most nd fans believe hed have lost to indiana this year and surely georgia.
Kelly overly relies on analytics.
Kelly also has a massive ego about his gameplans and demonstrated MULTIPLE TIMES in twelve years and inability to adapt in big games. He simply sticks to his plan and assumes it will eventually work
Kellys bowl game prep was ALWAYS scrutinized. He tells the players its a business trip. He says all the things that make sense outside of a football team, but the PLAYERS always came back and said kelly didnt instill any confidence in his teams, hed spend the prep days doing media tours rather than with the team. Hed leave everything to his assistant coaches until gameday then try to "take over". Players continually complained that come gameday they were not ready for the moment. The teams had a players leaders group created just to get time with kelly and nothing changed
Kelly is a great organizational coach.
Kelly has a method to manufacture wins and beat teams he should
Kelly is possibly the second worst big game coach actively in college football next to Franklin.

Who cares what opposing fans think about a former coach? You need some hobbies

Patently false and covered on collegefootballnews.
ND finished ranked third in the AP and easily make a four team playoff this year.

I disagree - as you know all well and good they don't use the AP poll for those decisions and thank goodness they don't - I seen no way ND is picked by the committee.
Their schedule and the one team they lost to is more than enough to justify multiple two loss teams jumping them. and would have. Didn't the final CFP poll have them 5th? The answer is yes, they did - and that is the way the teams were picked last year - and as 5th is not in the top - 4 that basically makes the point moot.

Is it wrong to have aspirations of championship contentions with a top 10 paid coach
BK took Notre Dame to heights and consistency they hadn't experienced since the 1970s.
But because he couldn't win the big one, they "were so glad to be done with him"

lol BK did not take ND to “heights and consistency” they haven’t experienced since the 70’s.
Some of you are out of your god damned mind.
Most ND fans admit that he got ND back to a respectable second tier team. 2017-2021 was a decent run.
He just couldn’t win big games and that’s just a fact. Even in 2021, his final year at ND, lost to Cincinnati, at home. Yes Cincinnati was a top 10 team that made the playoffs, but it’s still a team ND should beat.
Not being able to win big games sounds like trouble being a head coach in the SEC

He’s literally the reason they are good. lol

Your year-by-year record says otherwise.

I already said this. Try and keep up.

And Freeman lost to 7-5 Northern Illinois at home a few months ago.

54-9 is a "decent run"

You're proving my point without realizing it.

After the regular season ended, I really didn't care who won the NC, but after seeing Notre Dame get their "wins " and seeing their fans on social media suck on the Marcus Freeman hype.
I kind am pulling for Ohio State to beat the crap out of them.
Just to bring them down a notch.
This whole comparison to Freeman and BK is nonsense.
I get it , they are excited, been a while for them, but they are becoming insufferable.
Freeman is a good coach, but he did inherit a good program. He is not the second coming of Saban. All the pieces lined up for the Irish this season.
I'm willing to bet that if Notre Dame does end up winning the national championship, that a good majority of people, outside of South Bend, will not loop them in as one of the all-time great national championship teams.

So what was Northern Illinois ranked when they beat ND?

You need to calm down and actually read what I'm posting.

Agree with this right here. LSU fans shouldnt care what us Irish fans think. I will say this about Kelly though....throw out all the ND records Kelly had and let me just ask this....Ed Orgeron won a Natty with Burrows....so why couldn't Kelly even make the playoffs with Heisman stud Jayden Daniels? I know Daniels got hurt in the SEC title game in the 2ndQ but LSU was already getting crushed and was down 35-10 at half. Is Kelly a 100 million dollar coach?....absolutely not but LSU fans will unfortunately have to find that out for themselves. I'd also like to see what Freeman could do if he had a stud Heisman winner like Daniels....the sky would be the limit....

That question can be answered next Monday night. Until then it is a tie.

Oh really? How many playoff games did Brian Kelly win at Notre Dame? How many Top 10 teams did he beat in the postseason? I'll wait...
Winning quarterfinal and round of 12 games is not the same as winning a semifinal game. That’s like talking about how many yards a modern player has compared to someone who played 2-3 less games.

2019 Clemson Clemson had a second year Trevor Lawrence and were absolutely rolling coming off of a National Title win the year prior.
They didn’t play 2019 Clemson. They played 2018 Clemson and lost 30-3. It was Trevor Lawrence’s freshman year and Clemson went 15-0 and were the national champions.
FWIW, I think 2018 Clemson would also beat 2024 Notre Dame 30-3 just like they did to 2018 Notre Dame.
