Don’t let ND fans in your dome. You will better off living this way.

Explain the blowouts
You’re counting 11-14 point losses as blowouts? A lot can happen in the final minutes to swing a 1 possession game to a 2 possession game. By your measure, last night’s game was a blowout. It wasn’t. Not even close.
That looks like a solid resume to me. Only 1 losing season in that time? 1 BCSCG and 2 CFP appearances? Most schools would kill for that.

2012 Alabama BCS Championship No one was beating that Alabama team and they would likely win by 40+ against this years ND championship team. Predicted Line vs. 2024 ND would be ALA -19.5
2012 Bama lost to A&M and should have lost to UGA.
quote:I mean ok? Notre Dame didn't play Clemson in 2019. They lost to Michigan and Georgia and played in the camping world bowl vs Iowa State?
2019 Clemson Clemson had a second year Trevor Lawrence and were absolutely rolling coming off of a National Title win the year prior
quote:No they are not. They never played in front of a crowd and Mac Jones was the QB.
2020 Alabama I really don’t have to say much here other than they are a top 3 football team of our lives.
2019 LSU
2018 Clemson
2001 Miami
All kick the dogshit out of 2020 Alabama.
quote:Objectively false- This very year we could have been in the playoffs if we could beat two shitty teams in A&M and USC. We lost to both.
I will eat all of my words if they somehow beat OSU but until they do, Freeman isn’t doing anything Kelly didn’t.
Notre Dame also needed to beat A&M and USC to be in the playoffs. They beat both of them.
Yall are trying to act like Marcus Freeman isn't a monster defensive coach but he is. The dude is a rising star.
It's such a pussy move to be unranked in the Texas bowl and talking about how the team in the national championship isn't on your level and the coach isn't as good as yours lol.
Do results matter or not?

No. There is reasoning and logic behind the predictions. I can see maybe a few point swings either way but they would all be in that area.

They got a good tournament draw. This happens all the time in basketball. It does not make their accomplishment any less.
It is amazing both of the teams would have been left out of the 4 team scenario. It makes you think of other teams like 2015 Ohio St and 2022 Bama and whether they would have won it all.

Except he did. He also did it when they only let 4 teams into the CFP.
Oh really? How many playoff games did Brian Kelly win at Notre Dame? How many Top 10 teams did he beat in the postseason? I'll wait...

Notre Dame fan here.
Here’s my thoughts:
The Sugar Bowl win against Georgia was the most significant win for ND since 1993. I get it, that wasn’t the best Georgia team ever but they were still SEC champions, it was a playoff game, and the first major bowl victory since ‘93. Kelly just didn’t have a win against a team like Georgia that has been a perennial contender the last few years. I’ve seen many mention the teams Kelly lost to in the playoffs and BCS championship like Bama and Clemson and yes those teams were far superior talent wise to ND. No doubt.
But some other marquee games that would have been big, signature wins, he just couldn’t get it done. For example:
2014 - lost to FSU
2015 - lost to Clemson
2017 - lost to Georgia
2019 - lost to Georgia
The loss to Clemson and that first loss to Georgia was when those teams were just getting into being championship contenders. And at the time, neither of them were in the Top 10 although they did end up in the top 10 by the end of the year.
Did beat Clemson in reg season in 2020 but Lawrence was on the bench with covid and they started DJ Uiagalalei who was a freshman and he actually torched us. When we rematched in the ACC championship with Lawrence we got blown out.
Kellys big wins were against average Michigan teams, and Stanford who had some good teams and were top 10 occasionally but no one considers beating Stanford a huge, signature win. But for actual marquee matchups, we came close but just couldn’t get the W. And the last couple years NBC would show Kelly giving a pregame speech to the team and even before a big game he’d just say the same stupid shite “let’s go out there and play sound, fundamental, Notre Dame football.” It’s easy to see Freeman’s teams come out ready to kill in big games.
So anyways, yes Kelly did get ND back to a somewhat respectable program but couldn’t get us over the hump and beating a team like Georgia. With Freeman, the feeling now is that we can beat top teams now.

The only question LSU fans need to ask themselves is if Kelly could rattle off 7-10 wins in a row with four guaranteed to be against #12 or better in the country?
The answer is a resounding no.
The answer is a resounding no.

IHe would have the OC AND DC ,NIL CHANGE everything. But will not win a N. C AT. LSU !!!

2018 Clemson not 2019. 2019 they played OSU.

Even if he does, he never had to play a team near as good as any team BK lost to in a championship run. BK lost to 3 teams that are some of the best of the last 30 years.

When Notre Dame loses to Ohio State it’ll further prove Kelly right.

BK wouldn't win three straight against top 10 opponents in the first place to even be in this position.

Lol.. everyone should realize that Day and the OSU are no strangers to losing the big game. They could very easily hand ND the title.

It’s interesting they’d put it that way. Kelly has had the exact success that freeman is having and will have…an L in the national championship game. Success in the playoff is winning it. Not getting there, not winning a first or second round game. Winning it.
That being said, I care as much about notre dame fans opinions as I do about Penn state fans or Texas fans or Ohio state fans or Alabama fans….not at all.

They are an elitist fanbase with a similar mindset of our friends in Tuscaloosa.
Is it wrong to have aspirations of championship contentions with a top 10 paid coach?
BK #8 in pay and his team finished unranked and not in contention for even an at large bid to the playoffs.
