- all 4 QB’s will get equal reps with the first team offense in the spring game
-we have jumbo goal line packages with Anthony Bradford or Kardell Thomas at fullback. Dare Rosenthal at tight end.
-Bradford, Turner, and Dumervil are the top 3 backup OL
-Joseph Evans has been LSU’s top interior DL in scrimmages

Is Kardell Thomas healthy and competing for playing time?

First 8 in, so I'd say not as of right now other than maybe playing FB on goal line situations.

Back up OL guys brought up by O were Bradford(best one on one blocker), Turner and Dumervil. No mention of Thomas other than red zone FB.

All you ever hear from Coach O is Jo Evans, but he never does anything in a game. I think Jo is Coach O's favorite and is just appreciating Jo's hard work he puts in

Evans was very decently graded last season at DT.

Got a 67.5 defensive grade overall from PFF which is well above average. Outside of Ika, who played like 75 snaps and left, he was the highest graded interior lineman who played last year. Higher than Farrell, Logan and Roy.

He is a lunch pail type guy. Coach O loves those types of players.

It seems like jumbo packages rarely work against top D's. Limited play calling. I can't remember the last jumbo TD in a big game but I can sure remember the misses (like UF).

I would rather spread the D with WRs and pick the running lanes.

For some reason very few people want to believe this.

Sorry, that's a terrible example. Spread offenses don't work either if guys run the wrong way.

You were not sure it was good news when Clyde turned out to be our best back.

Turner is our only reliable backup at C.

Wire O considers a co-starter with Rosenthal still, I dont think he forgot about him intentionally.

Dare at TE in jumbo and GL? I like it. I wonder if he can catch.

Jumbo package should barely be in our vocabulary

He wasn't even a full time starter last year and he still managed 20 tackles and he did some good things inside when he played. I'm not surprised at all, the kid has got plenty of talent. His production was more than solid for a player that didn't even have a home on the roster until last year.

The biggest disadvantage to the spread is its biggest advantage gets taken away in goal line situations.

The biggest advantage to the spread is forcing your opposing defense to defend the whole field, not just east to west, but north and south too.

When you get near the goal line, corners arent playing 5 yards off receivers any more, safeties arent playing 10-15 yards deep, these are are at or close to the LOS now. You can still spread teams out East and West but there is no North/South threat really any more.

This is where goal line packages can come in handy and just get physical with the other team instead of trying to finesse it in when it's much tough to do that vs. when you have an open field.

Plus with goal line packages, you can "Trick" the defense a little more in play action part of game which can often lead to very easy TDs.

Jumbo packages can still have a very distinct advantage in the right situations, assuming good playcalling.

Yeah we didnt exactly jumbo package much with Burrow around in 2019, but we cant expect to have an elite QB like that all the time here as well.
