We upped his pitch count and ran him in the 5th before he could even get an out. We’ll wind up scoring 10+.

Yep. Guy was incredibly different than what they’re used to seeing and he was inconsistent enough with his location that it made him hard to hit. The only people melting about that are morons. 3 times around the order and we’re teeing off

Dude gave up 4 runs in 4 innings.

He did well for a while, but we eventually caught up with him.

Here’s something you should probably learn.

Damn near every team we’re going to play has one guy who can get us out effectively. Everyone has one.

The thing is that it takes more than one. And the vast majority of coaches are going to look at their bullpen and their second and third starters and they’re going to wonder “how in the hell are we going to make this work”

Not really. They have proven that it matters very little, even over a 162 game mlb season.

Not trying to be a contrarian on this post….

But Johnson and staff know more about hitting than anyone on this board ever will. We’re fine.

The adjustments were made

And here we are 7 runs later

Maybe we should hire Will Wade to coach the baseball team.

Are we sure about that? The rant swears every game that they know more than every coach on campus.

You’re correct but the vast majority aren’t contenders which is why I qualified the statement like I did.

Hey Coach, you better get worried. Butler's pitcher would get hit in good high schools. This is terrible. How about moving up in the box and crowding the plate (right handed hitters); how many slow fastballs and slower changes can you miss on the outside corner?

For the millionth time- this is why you don't make knee-jerk reaction threads like this during the game, because now you look stupid. And if you knew anything about baseball, you'd know batters don't hit well the first time through the lineup.

Actually the data says otherwise. From 1993 to 2010 the lowest RPG avg for an MLB season was 9.18. In 8 of the last 12 years RPG average has been below 9rpg.

runs scored is what matters, and the best stats for that are woba and OPS. you can ignore strikeouts and batting average.

in fact a K out is ok because it wears out the pitcher and wont be a double play.

a player with a huge OPS and huge K numbers is excellent. he would be no better if he never struck out and got his outs via popouts and groundouts.

This lineup is vastly overrated

Dude you need to chill. It’s early and this may be one of the best teams to ever be playing together in BR. A stud Friday pitcher, above average starters, a deep and solid bullpen.

Now on to offense, this team will get better as the year goes. Tonight was frustrating but when you have Skenes throwing your have such an advantage bc it will only take a few points to win. Tonight was frustrating, but they eventually got the read on him and started to smash. This team is much better at faster pitching and this slow pitcher pitched a great game and his change up was great. Also the umpire had a huge strike zone.

We shouldn’t have a loss but hey one game is okay and these boys will only improve. We need to focus on health and keeping the whole team involved and I love how JJ is moving players around and letting the younger players get some experience early. I’ve never seen such a multi faceted team this talented. JJ has the ability to move players around the field. I think they will be in the top 3rd if all categories when SEC play starts.

I feel like I’m watching a totally different team than prior years and Paul would have never fielded a tan with such big hitters and big bodies.

This team is extremely talented and I’m excited for the year.

A lefty junkballer is always potent medicine and we ALWAYS struggle against them
