CBK will never win a NC at LSU. He chokes...his record proves it in big games. Only game was Bama and he got smoked. He is not the fit for LSU.

He fired all of them and upgraded at every position on the defensive staff, that's handling business IMO

Yeah, but then he created another problem and fricked up by hiring a QB coach as the OC. Still has to figure that one out.

Which big games specifically?

Taking a risk on a coach that’s younger and more hungry would have yielded a potentially larger return.

Like who?

The odds are exponentially higher that you get the next Billy Napier, Tom Herman, Scott Frost, etc

Curt Cignetti is older but he’s got a pretty good track record. His personality is straight to the point and he doesn’t bullshite anything. Like Saban, he came from a blue-collar family in WV.

Cignetti is several months older than BK.

No way LSU would have hired a Division II head coach in 2021 to rebuild this program.

In the playoff era you better have a coach that can make in-game adjustments and be an exceptional game planner with very good coordinators.

You cannot be passive in-game. I think that is where BK gets in trouble. He kind of rolls it out there and lets the chips fall where they may. After the game he says all the right things but misses the opportunity to do something in the moment to change it.

Hopefully we stack talent, but even with talent if you can’t X and O you will get beat in modern college football and it will be impossible to win a championship. You’ve gotta have in-game instincts and a sense of urgency that I just don’t see with him.

I think everyone needs to calm down. We looked like Mississippi State in the 20 and 21 season. Hell they beat us in 20. We are in much better shape. We will figure things out and continue to roll. The alarm should be raised next year and not this year.

very good point, not advocating for the return of Les but his teams more often than not made successful halftime adjustments, especially on defense

It has to be so much harder because if you have a good coordinator, coach, recruiter, etc. someone is always pouching. Not only that but you need to be a great recruiter, great transfer portal recruiter, and hang on to what you are trying to build. The days of loyalty with fans, players, staff and universities is gone. Everyone wants instant gratification.

In the era of instant gratification it’s going to be difficult for Kelly to sustain momentum when he failed miserably at hiring a competent defensive staff. It is important LSU makes the playoffs this season.

We are realistically two years from having the depth Georgia and Ohio State have because of terrible evaluations by House and Steeples…and whoever the hell our DL coach was. I do think he finally has the right staff in place now.

Also it’s insane we do lack the staff physicality les and shrimp’s team had. He needs to find a way to regain that. Whether scheme or culture change he needs to adjust.

Always appreciate an outsiders view of it all.

Crazy how Nebraska was elite from the 60's -> early 2000's. Right off a cliff after that outside of Bo's years I would say. Hopefully Rhule can figure it out. You all are having a very interesting season.

Bo did it with John Blakes talent. Once Bo started to do it on his own it showed. We are snake bitten and I am convinced we will never be in the playoff.

He should have had a CFB playoff appearance. LSU had one of the all-time great offenses last year and didn't sniff the playoffs. LSU was in prime position to take control of the conference this past Saturday and completely fell apart. Not to mention losing the season-opener every year he's been here. Those are big match-ups that you spend a considerable amount of time preparing for...only to lose every year.

BK is a good coach, however he's not elite and for long as he's been coaching, if he isn't there by now, he'll never reach that level.
