I look across the CBB landscape and I see HRs are up across the board, so Cag getting to 31 isn’t some outlandish total.

Hell, we tied our number of double digit HRs on the roster in a single season with the 1998 team and Morgan is sitting at 7.

What Skenes is doing in this hotter bat/ball era far offsets Cag and his 31 HRs. Imagine Skenes pitching 6-7 years ago. His numbers would look much more impressive than today.

It’s 2nd all time in the SEC to Brandon Larson’s 40 in 1997

Cresse hit 30, so yeah.. He is number 2 in SEC all time in a single season.

But look across the nation, there are a shitload of freshman hitting 15-20 this season.

53 players have hit 20 or more this year in CBB (D1).

That would be a valid reason.

Maybe that’s dumb, but it’s just an opinion. I just hope an LSU player wins it.

It's not dumb. It's a reasonable argument. Though it is probably unfair to a starting pitcher, the reality is Skenes has only factored in 16 of LSU's 61 games. Crews has played all 61

This is far from the truth. 31 HR in a season is ridiculous. Think about the power that Crews and Tommy White show. Crews has 17 and Tommy White has 20. Cags has 31 and is still playing also.

HRs are up across the board. Period.

The HR leader in 2012 had 23.

Maybe I'm way wrong but I bet Crews could sacrifice 100 points on his avg and hit 15 more homeruns this year

White probably would as well because his 2 strike approach is just to put the ball in play.

In that case they should probably give it to Cags. Leads the nation in HRs and is a legit Sunday starter in the SEC. He has a pretty strong case IMO

But he is dominated in all phases of the game by our two guys. Just because you go both ways does not make you the best all around player.

That isn't what I'm saying at all. I agree with you that it is obvious we are in an era of the hot balls, but to say 31 isn't outlandish is wrong. With the way the bats were back in the day and him passing up Cresse for 2nd all time in the SEC says enough. He has averaged a homer in every 2 games Florida has played. 31 homers in 63 games.

And Travinski is averaging the same and all of his HRs have come in the last 20 games without the benefit of mashing the OOC pitching the first month of the year.

Not comparable. Cag's proved he could stay consistent with it throughout the year.

Definitely not saying that Travinski can't, he just didn't get the opportunity to prove it.

Cag has a HR every 8.03 AB.
Trav has a HR every 8.2 AB.

Travinski didn’t start getting consistent ABs until after the Ole Miss series; our 6th SEC series.

I’m just saying HRs are up across the board these last few years and what Skenes is doing is >>>> Cag.

The whole splitting votes thing is not as big as it is made out to be if you are talking about fan vote. Fan vote only counts as 5% of the actual vote
