He sucks at tackling

If you consider pursuit as part of this, then sure. The angles he took were baffling at times.

I thought he was a pretty good tackler when he got there though. He tried wrapping up way more than a lot of guys who think a stand-up shoulder charge works better.

The fumble he caused on Lawrence in the NCG doesn't happen if he doesn't lower himself and pop him old-school.

Watch Delpit on Clemson’s 2nd touchdown. There’s your reason why. I was so pissed watching him jog (being nice) down the field behind the receiver.

No doubt in my mind this play cost will end up costing him a lot of money. That kind of lack of effort will stick out to every GM and coach before any great plays. If a kid wont sell out in a national championship game then what will he do when he has a few million in the bank? Hopefully Delpit learns from that mistake.

He played with the high ankle sprain. It takes a while to get 100% from that. It is hard to tackle with one bad wheel. He looked a lot healthier after he sat out that one game. He came back a little closer to 100%. In my opinion, it is no coincidence that defense played better as he got healthier and played better.

The kid didn’t have a good year. No matter how you slice it.

Tackling, obviously. But maybe the injuries that caused him to tackle so poorly for the first two thirds of the season were more serious and concerning to the team doctors. Anyway, I was shocked, because I still thought Delpit would be between the 10th and 15th players selected.

He wasn’t healthy most of 2019. When he was healthy in the postseason he was back to 2018 form but he still dropped because of the overall body of work in 2019.

He is probably one that got hurt by not being able to visit teams. He would have one somebody over if he were able to do the normal team visits and workouts.

I wondered all season if he was injured beyond just the ankle issue. He went from laying the lumber in 2018 to seemingly afraid of contact at times. I think this contributed to his tackling issues, with the type athletes he faced running free in the secondary, you have to be 100% committed or you’re not going to tackle them.

Step back in quality of play

Didn’t participate in the combine

Team’s medical staff unable to assess his reported injury

Teams had bigger needs

Safety has been devalued in recent drafts. Unless you’re an all-pro lock, you won’t be a first rd pick (you may get lucky with a team in the late-1st).

Not surprised at all.

All those LSU the re-runs... keep eye on him.
Whiffs, terrible angles.
Injured or not he played better as a sophomore

Delpit should’ve been a top 10 pick off his 2018 tape alone. Injured majority of 2019, latter part of the season he got healthy & showed up. He’s gonna cause hell for offenses in the NFL and will be Pro Bowler!

It’s what happens after the passes have already been caught though that’s the worry with Delpit. He missed 20 tackles on 78 attempts this past season. That’s a disastrous rate. While an ankle injury is to blame for some of that, Delpit had 16 misses on 81 attempts in 2018 as well. This isn’t a new problem and may just be something you have to accept with Delpit.

Gonna be a steal for whoever gets him. In the end, he'll be fine.

He played himself out of the first round in the first 7-8 games. The refusing to wrap up and going for knock out blows and bouncing off people.

Then the Game after Tua got hurt I think where he played extremely poorly and was out of position on plays and did not even attempt to recover. That tape looked real bad.

Finally there was not a safety taken at all last night. The kid from Bama was not even selected.
