I scrolled down a through a few days worth of tweets from the NIT bracketology guy on the site I linked and found this....apparently this guy has been doing this for a while and is pretty confident in his seeding predictions.

quote:

Predicting how the committee seeds teams must be next to impossible. RPI obviously isn't the holy grail. Saw this on another website about last yr. bracket: Ole Miss was a 5 seed with an RPI of 77, Bama was a 3 seed with an RPI of 78 and Indiana was a 3 seed with an RPI of 79.

The overall RPI no, but the wins and losses at least has some sense. I’m usually within a seed line either way.

I think this bodes well for at least one home game. I think all of LSU's good wins this year will finally pay its reward on NIT Selection Sunday.

Wider lane helps us a great deal, keeps opposing teams post players farther from the basket.

I was thinking we'd be around a 4-5 seed.

We had a pretty good free throw % for a long time. I think Skylar was around 85% and Tremont around 80%, but, for inexplicable reasons, we started to suck recently.
We make FT’s yesterday, we’re playing Tenn. tomorrow.

I doubt LSU can sell even 5K tickets to an NIT game on short notice. I have 6 season tickets and the 4 people who buy 4 of mine have all said they did not want a ticket to any NIT game on any night versus any team. My wife and I will buy two, but I doubt many folks around S LA will buy tickets.

IF we get a home game, I'm tailgating. Just like the old days when football tailgating was fun. Can't wait for next season. WW is the real deal.

This team did not defend well enough to win a lot of games away from home. Assign the blame for that to whatever you want (except the asst. coach who was primarily in charge of the defensive game plans) Defense travels. Shooting comes and goes, particularly on the road.

Agree 100%.
At the beginning of the season WW said he had 6 different defensive sets, and jokingly said “you might see them all in one gamel”. He said he wanted to confuse the opponent so they’d never know what was coming next.
I watched several practices at that time, and it was evident the coaches just couldn’t teach all of them to the current group, our players were the ones getting confused! Too much, too quickly.
I think some of them couldn’t get out of CJJ era defenses mindset, they’d revert. Especially Epps, he never played defense for the 3 years he played for CJJ !!
He improved a bit this year. So they dialed back on defensive play options.
I’m looking forward to a very exciting next season, with the players we are getting and learning multiple defenses, we’ll be one of those teams “best defensive” teams.

I hope you’re wrong, but the apathy for b-ball here does run deep. I’m pretty sure Wade and crew are working on getting as much publicity and gimmicks for a home game as possible right now!

Fortunately, not all LSU basketball fans are stuck-up assholes like the people who buy your tickets. I'm not predicting a sell out, but I think a decent crowd shows up. And I'm pretty sure the host school gets to set ticket prices, within certain parameters. I'd bet on LSU selling NIT tickets as cheaply as they can to get a good crowd. Students would be required to buy tickets; I would expect the LSU AD to buy a certain number of student tix, like maybe a thousand, and give them away for free to students.

But they'll be the first ones to blame Alleva if Wade bolts. I'm really starting to hate LSU fans. Why would any top level recruit or coach want to come here with this kind of fan support.

I've been amped on a possible NIT home game. I'll be there with my kids, as always. Anyone who says they won't go no matter the opponent needs to find a new rooting interest. This team deserves a packed pmac....they are less talented and hang with everyone. Don't bother being "all in" for next year if you can't buy into this team.
