That doesnt matter at all in this context, the qualifiers are still the same. Like he said LSU went 1-4 in bowls in the 80s. The fact that you dont like them as much now is irrelevant.

Fat Scott over pays and is basically a coin flip if he gets the hires right

NIL didn’t do that. Orgeron and BK did that.
LSU is killing it with NIL. Can they do it for much longer? Don’t know. Ole Miss has less money than LSU, though, but they cast a wider net (they go after more alumni who give less as opposed to a handful of filthy rich boosters, in the $1k to $5k range).
LSU is recruiting exceptionally well. It is on the coaches.
Look at how our defense improved. We held Lincoln Riley to 27. We couldn’t have done that with a high school team last year. We do not have a great defense talent wise, but we are making the most of what we do have. That’s Blake Baker and Bo Davis.
Denbrock wins that game by 2 scores.

It's not a matter of preference, Nimrod. The bowls are not at all what they were then. That is a simple fact.

Speaking of Ole Miss, they currently sit 11th in the SEC in 2025 recruiting rankings

NIL was a seismic change that hit everyone. LSU was late to the gate and, as I understand it, suffered from some internal dysfunction between the new NIL collective and the legacy funding vehicles that were already in place.
But it looks like that's all been resolved, and we've turned a corner. Things are looking solid going forward.
The only thing that I think is lacking is our number of small donors compared to Ole Miss and Auburn, for instance. They took a different track and focused on volume first. We should easily have more small donors that Ole Miss. I think this part is critical for sustainability because we'll never have as many megadonors as the TX schools and the like.
All said and done, I think if LSU can carve out a spot in the top 1/3 of the league, we'll be fine.

I repeat......moneyball is here to stay......college football is a thing of the past. Enjoy it, if you dare !!!

I’m pretty sure a lot of you didn’t watch lsu football in the 80’s. That shite got grim. Like, can’t win consecutive games grim

I think he may be referring more to the portal, than recruits.

Started watching in 81 at MSU game where we got owned. (losing record)
82 was a great year. (winning record)
83 sucked, hey but we beat Washington (losing record) - Stovall Fired
84 made to Sugar Bowl (winning record) - Hired Arnsparger
85 Beat ND but blew the Liberty Bowl (Winning Record)
86 Lost to Nebraska again in Sugar Bowl (Winning Record) - Arnsparger left. Sucked LSU lost to Miami of Ohio in the Mud Bowl at Tiger Stadium.
87 Won Gator Bowl and could have been better (Winning Record) - Archer era
88 Winning record but start of decline
89 Losing record even with powerful offence. - The year that started the dark days until 1995.
LSU had good team but were consistent all the time.

They literally beat two teams last year that had a winning record, LSU in that last second in Oxford, and beat 7-6 A&M in oxford by 3. That's it...they got smoked by Ga and Alabama, and took advantage of the very down years (so did we) by Ark, Aub, State all being pathetic....as well as Florida and A&M pretty bad too.
They are unbearable right now, the fans....can't wait until LSU beats that top 5 arse on Oct 12th.

NIL isn’t the problem with this team. Also, do you pay attention to recruiting, because we are about to pay a fortune for a class that will end up between 1 and 3 and will have the top QB and RB. I’m not saying there aren’t issues with the program, but NIL doesn’t seem to be one of them going forward.
Putting all your nil into a high school clas is a gamble these days.
How many are ready day 1?
How many are willing to wait 2 years?
Are the fans willing to allow a class to develop?
When you go get a Jaden Daniels in the portal it wins games.

OM collective is rolling. The $1k and $5k stuff is what the common alumni is giving. $250 a month isn’t that much.
OM all but abandoned baseball NIL though.
LSU still piling up money for baseball

You sure are dumb. It makes LSU even more elite and separate from others that cannot sustain.

I’m afraid we really missed the boat by not going after Kiffin. He embraces the current situation in cfb as muc, if it more, than any coach out there and will be a pain in LSU’s side for a long while.
