The concept in not. The trophy is terrible. They should have just used and old boot and bronzed it. Or made a golden boot. The boot symbolizes the two states. You do not have to have some massive trophy that 3 players have to carry.

He is nice guy also. 2004 opener when LSU hosted Oregon State, I had back stage passes for Gameday. Had free run of the entire place the bus and all. They had a buffet and tables set up off set for the talent and all. Me and my buddy were sitting down getting a bite to eat. While herby and corso and all of them sat together or went on the bus. Fowler came and sat down with us and sat there over a hour just bullshitting. He is very laidback and down to earth.

While I agree that Arkansas is not a rival, and the boot is stupid, how is Tulane not our rival? We've played Tulane more than Alabama, Auburn, or Florida. The history of the game is older than the one with any of those three schools. And Tulane is in our state.

how is Tulane not our rival? We've played Tulane more than Alabama, Auburn, or Florida. The history of the game is older than the one with any of those three schools. And Tulane is in our state.
But we don't play them anymore - we've played them 5 times in the last 27 years, haven't played them at all in the last 14 years, and we've won the last 18 games (all but 2 of them by double digits).
Tulane was a rival 50 years ago, but that rivalry died a long time ago.

Fowler was great on Gameday because he was the HOST, and a great one, at that.
Rece Davis, on the other hand, doesn't know his role. He'll throw his opinion in, disagree with Herbstreit, and generally try to impress everyone with his knowledge. He's almost as annoying as Pat McAfee.

Herbstreit has grown on me.
I used to think he was the biggest OSU fluffer and couldn't hide his allegiance on TV. But somewhere along the line he seems to have gotten less biased. Probably realized he threw a total of 5 touchdowns in his career there and they're not building him a statue for it.
Have always liked Fowler.
