Did the 03’ team do their 20 year celebration yet?

LSU will always hold a special place in Saban’s heart

No lies detected. He loves LSU and is always speaking fondly of his time there.

Enjoy retirement Coach

I really think that 2019 tops them all.

Yes - I was a junior at LSU in 58 and that was quite special - but I would rather rewatch replays of that 2019 team than any of the others.

Hate to say this - but I have become an addict for a great passing game.

Until lately I was a "3 yds and cloud of dust" kind of fan - really enjoyed defensive duels more than offensive outbursts.

BUT - Burreaux & Co changed all that. And Jayden made me an addict.

“I think the first one, obviously was at LSU, in 2003 and then the 2009 first championship here at Alabama,” Saban revealed. “And the reason those two first probably are the ones that resonate the most for me is what I mentioned before, is all those guys came to the program when the program really wasn’t successful.”

I don't think people whose fandom of LSU started in the 2000s or even under DInardo can appreciate what 2000 was like for some of us older folks.

Agreed, my first memory of LSU football was 1973 and I was hooked from day one and fully engaged passionately from then on. We had some good years but what came when Saban got here was what I had always imagined but never thought would come. Going to the SEC title game and winning in 2001 was the best feeling I'd ever had as a fan to that point only to be followed by 2003.

Never forget sitting in TS when Mauck hit Skyler Green against Georgia

I was 15 at the time and I couldn't actually see Green catch the ball due to everybody standing at the same time.....I guess I was late on the jump, but EVERYBODY in that stadium cheered at once with arms in the air! One of my earliest and fondest memories at the stadium.

On occasion, I'll smoke a J and put on the 2019 Oklahoma game.

A good friend was a TAF big shot back then & was having breakfast the morning before the NCG with Saban & a few other TAF'ers. He said Saban, out of the blue, said : "they have no idea what's getting ready to hit them".

There was nothing like that 2003 NC.

Growing up, LSU had the one NC and it seemed like that would be the permanent NC record, and I’d never see them accomplish anything like it.

I was in the terrace in Jan 2004. Awesome.

'03 is still the most memorable to me. '19 was the most fun but '03 will always be the most memorable to me.

But damn if that doesn't make you feel a little nostalgic of what our program could have been then idk what would.

Not denying he will is one of the great HC's of the modern era BUT ... LSU and the talent in the state of LA has had something to do with the team's success.

Louisiana had that in-state talent for decades and didn’t win squat. It took Saban building a program that the maintainers could maintain. Kelly is another program builder.
