No he didn't, he was at UF for 12 years, when he came back to the SEC he went to a lesser team. He also did not flirt with the NFL the entire time he was your coach. You would feel different he left and 2 years later came back to UT, UGA or even FSU. Had Saban stayed another 4-5 years so, left for the NFL and returned at Miss State, no one would really care

Why do you guys hate Nick Saban so much? Steve S did the same thing to us. But we don't loath him near as much as you guys do NS.
Dido to what everyone has said about hating NS. Spurrier was also a Heisman winning QB for you guys, so that might dampen some of the hatred you might have had.

Over half of these idiots don't think Saban even helped LSU during his 5 years here.

the guy did great things here, but left. thats fine: go on your way. my problem with NS is he still to this day gets credit for every win we get. 3 years after he leaves, somehow, nick saban gets some credit for our 07 title
the guy is a good coach, theres no way around it. but the guys rep on the field is inaccurrate. EVERY year of his career, he has an unspeakable loss on his record- but if you listen to talking heads, you would think hes never lost a game. its just fustrating that hes able to manipulate the media into believing hes a god, while our coach is continually under appreciated nationally.
and its not the same as SS. yall could have gotten spurrier back if yall wanted him. yall got a much better coach who has NEVER gotten a "winning with zook's recruits" line or a "living in the house spurrier built" blast. its just not the same

The reason any real person, and by real person I mean one with scruples, loathes someone that is an unethical piece of work like Nick Saban. I don't think that Nick could even sit down to play the board game "Scruples" he would loose every time. How he keeps feeding these kids this Kool Aide, and then treating them like red headed step children is beyond comprehension. Thats all I got to say about Nick Saban...

You must not get what he left for Miles to work with , compared to what HE had when he got here. Miles was set up SWEET!!!! Miles still won the 2007 title, I give him ALL the credit for that.

Also, when Les at Ok. St., he was to get a raise/bonus, instead, didn't he give it to the Asst. Coaches?

I really think, and I have no real basis for this, that LSU couldve gotten Saban back here if there had been a vacancy. I think he wouldve come back. Maybe if Miles had been able to go to UM a year earlier.

Stanley wasn't taking Saban back.

It has yet to be pointed out that Spurrier wanted to come back to Florida. It was the AD that didn't hire him back. Spurrier only went to another school after being turned down by Florida.
Saban basically was behind the whole Shula firing. He sent word to the Alabama Board of Trustees that he would be interested to coming to Bama if they fired Shula. This happened after Miss St beat Bama. Top that off with Nick sending basically an open invitation to all LSU coaches and personnel that previously worked with him to leave LSU to come and coach with him at Bama.
The thing that ticks me off the most is the Bama fan attitude that since Saban won a national championship at LSU, surely he will win 6 at Alabama. I know Florida fans don't have to put up with USC fans claiming that Spurrier built Florida and it will collapse without him. USC will dominate the SEC now.

Even though I don't hate Saban like most, many LSU fans don't like him because he lied about leaving here, and lied about leaving Miami to go to one of the teams that had beaten us pretty consistently the last 30 years.
This.
Personally, I don't hate him. I had apprehensions about LSU remaining a strong program after he left, but didn't wish him ill. I was irritated when he took the Bama job, but don't hate him for it... but I really don't like the way he handled his business. All coaches get preachy about integrity, etc., but Saban really looked like an arse with all his denials and backdoor dealings in contrast with the way he tried to portray himself as a pillar of high morals. And it seemed like he was full of excuses, instead of owning up to having screwed up. So hate him, no-- but respect him less, yes.
I don't follow Florida as closely, so correct me if I'm wrong: I don't feel like Spurrier was feeding the UF community any lines when it came to leaving. It just seemed like he finally said he was going to give the pros a try. Spurrier has usually been one to speak his mind, and may be a cocky arse, but he's much more of a straight shooter than Saban, and seems like he has a much better sense of humor and perspective (if I had the opportunity to hang out and drink a beer with one of them, I imagine hanging out with Spurrier would be a much better time). I don't recall him making any B.S. excuses when he didn't do well in the pros. And when he tried to come back to UF and it didn't work, arguably because he didn't like the terms of having to interview or whatever the situation was, he didn't come off sleazy. It just didn't work, and he took his retirement job at USC. That he was also an alumni of UF also makes his ties stronger and maybe gives him some slack.

On the contrary Loma. When we won the BCSCS in 06, thats all we heard was how Meyer won with Zooks players. Which he did absolutly nothing with.

Great post epbart. In all honesty, I think him being an alum is the reason he has gotten a pass on the things he has done lately.

There is no question, the there was a ton of NFL caliber talent at LSU when Nicky left. That is why I thought he should have stayed and why I think he ultimately regretted leaving and wanted back on the SEC. But you can't deny that some people try to give him all of the credit.
