FSU has a bye this coming weekend. Perhaps FSU originally had Duquesne Week 2 and they moved them to Week 0.

I would be curious to know if Brian Kelly wants to move Grambling to Week 0 next year.

EDIT: Yes, there are rules that allow for Week 0 games, but you can also appeal the NCAA to play the game.

I'm hoping Woodward has already set this in motion.

We should make part of the contract for these games that we either both play week 0 or neither play week 0. This game goes very differently if we had a tune up before.

My god, Chicken has become a rantard. Read up on the week 0 rules, you can't just schedule any game then

Grambling would have to agree to this; not likely they would.

you have to determine if Hawaii is involved at all as well
that's how both UCLA and FSU have gotten around it

If FSU does it again, I would tell ESPN to shove it and go find another opponent

I bet USC finds some way to do it as well before that game in Vegas

Why not schedule two games before we play them? Or 3 games?

Or, we could actually be prepared to play the game when it’s scheduled.

Read up on the week 0 rules

Teams can also apply for an exemption to these rules, allowing them to play during Week 0 for a range of reasons. Those reasons can include extreme travel, like when Nebraska and Northwestern face each other in Dublin, Ireland, next weekend, or if they really, really want to, as was the case when Florida opened against Miami to kick off ESPN’s coverage of the 150th anniversary of college football in 2019.

I believe the week 0 game has to be against Hawaii or someone that has to travel to Hawaii at some point in the season and is allowed a 13th game.

You have to replace one of the other three OOC teams on LSU’s schedule with Hawaii or one of their home opponents.

Ah sorry, didn’t see that. I still can’t imagine the NCAA approving it if our only reason is wanting to have a tune up game before FSU. Looks like ESPN brokered that UF Miami deal.

What was the reason Duquesny and Fla St had to play week zero?

I stated we need to demand NO warm up games for either school in these kickoff classics several times over the summer and was laughed at by some of the Rhodes Scholars on here. I also caught excrement for maintaining Daniels would be the starter because I can add 2+2.

Woody BETTER insist that future contracts include language prohibiting teams from pulling this bull spit on us. This goes back to AT LEAST VA Tech back in 2002.

FSU gets two bye weeks because of Week 0 too. Week 0 sounds like a major win.

Technically they don’t HAVE to do it in week 0. If their respective bye weeks lined up somehow, they could have done it then. But unquestionably, FSU preferred it week 0.

Here are Hawaii’s 2023 home opponents:

If LSU could buy out or postpone to a future season, one of the three current OOC games and work out something with one of the teams below, then we’d be in business.

Stanford
Albany
New Mex St
Air Force
SD State
S Jose St
Colorado St

FSU doesn't play a team that plays Hawaii next year. Our schedule is set, so it looks like neither team will get a week 0 game next year as of now.
