You sure your not Wally Alt 26?
Lol. Rudy40 also accused me of being Wally on the other thread bc I pushed back on him. He hates Dixon so much that he cant fathom anyone sticking up for him other than his father. Just firing away on a message board trying to crack the code of who Wally is. Obsessed.
Wally really did a number on you, Rudy.

Wally has done nothing to me queef but it sounds like you have spent alot of time on your knees around him. Sorry that speaking the truth about your little Dixon upsets you so much.....queef!

PA announcer is supposed to be an unbiased voice and inform the crowd of the results after each play
Is the PA announcer not supposed to be happier for the home team?
That “unbiased” shite went away 30 years ago

He better be good because he has big shoes to fill. Dan Borne and before him Sid Crocker. The voices from above.

I know plenty about this state's politics. Believe me, there is nothing surprising about this at all.

Should have been Bill
Bill had a good, stoic demeanor for baseball. That works in the atmosphere of that sport. The baseball PA is not really calling the action of the filed. Football PA guys generally add more emotion in their calls. You heard it with Borne: "FIRST DOWN!...for the Tigers" Or any time LSU scored a TD with his voice echoing throughout the stadium. Most football PAs have their own little catchphrases

a professional P.A. announcer is just the opposite of a hype man. A home team radio announcer can be loud and wildly partisan but by definition (from the National Association of Sports Public Address Announcers - yes it's a real organization that has membership due and educational events) that is not to be heard from a PA guy.
Two of the 8 guidelines taught by the NASPAA mention this
3. Promote sportsmanship. Create a positive competitive environment through non-biased promotion of fair play.
4. Stick to the basics. Deliver pertinent information while avoiding the use of play-by-play and cheerleading.

You’re talking about a subject you have no experience or knowledge b/c although the PA announcer should be Emotionally neutral - Yes, you want a person who can be enthusiastic, but you do not want a “homer.” Your public address announcer should handle all calls with equal vigor and delivery, even if the opponent just made the game-winning score.
With that said McMakin comes across as snobby and arrogant to both the opposing team, and sometimes even the referees - maybe he won’t be the same way at LSU

FREAK MASON BROTHERHOOD TAKIN CARE OF A FREAK MASON BROTHER??

Either you are confusing a PA announcer with a play-by-play announcer (like on a radio or TV broadcast) or you have never been to a live game in your life.
The home play-by-play announcer is never "neutral". If you think that is the case, then you must hate Chris Blair, and really have hated Jim Hawthorne. They were very much pro-LSU in their broadcast...as they should be.
Confusing response! PByP is a radio or TV position. Public Address (P.A.) is the in-stadium or arena announcer.
Home team radio or TV (Chris Blair, Hawthorne, Gordy Rush as sideline analyst, and whomever did PByP & color on old Cox Cast) can be as effusive and partisan as they desire without overstepping their roles.
But P.A. announcers are by definition of the national organization (NASPAA) non-partisan and are not cheerleaders.
Blair and Hawthorne were/are play by play guys. Crocker, Borne, Franques, and now Dixon are PA announcers.
I used to hear Dixon on radio as the Catholic PByP radio announcer along with some ex-CHS player. Didn't realize he had transitioned to the stadium PA accouncer for CHS.
Hope he does well

I would expect it’s the opposite way around… like Chris Blair should be professional and unbiased because national people pick up the radio broadcast clips
But PA announcers are there for the people in the stadium to get them hyped up. You should be able to tell when the Tigers do something as opposed to the visitors doing it. Chuck Edwards (RIP) from the Hornets and the VooDoo was the greatest I’ve ever heard. I don’t go to enough Pelicans games but I hear Wild Wayne is great. My childhood remembers Rene Nadeau from the Zephyrs.

Should’ve been Mike Smith

Totally Agree if the choice was based on competence Mike would have won followed by Franquez!

There is not a single PA announcer in college or professional football who does this. If that is you standard, then clearly you didn’t like Borne because he most certainly did not call the opponent’s TDs with the same vigor and delivery as he did LSU’s. Nor do I think 99.9% of fans would want him to.

He’s not going to be the play-by-play broadcaster. He’s the PA announcer. Just like he was at the basketball games last year…and at no point was he “snobby and arrogant” to the opposing team or the referee.
If LSU made a shot he announced it with enthusiasm…like every other home PA announcer is America. If the opponent made a shot he neutrally announced the name of the guy who made the shot. If there was a foul, on either team, he simply announced it without any condescension.

Yes it is a part time job so why does that preclude LSU from hiring someone competent Skullhawk. Have you heard Dixon call games? I have more times than I wish I had he is horrible . Should not be mentioned in same sentence with Sid and Dan. He is a joke!
Ill go out on a limb here and say that 90% of the people who actually have heard him announce a basketball game/softball game would say he was fine. Based off of your post history you clearly do not like Dixon's dad and are taking it out on Dixon.
A guy from Baton Rouge who went to LSU for undergrad, LSU for law school, is the state rep in the district LSU is in and has actual announcing experience would be a good fit to be the next voice in my opinion. You are clearly biased against Dixons dad and are hiding behind a TD account to make you feel better.
Dixon is going to be good at this job. You clearly should let Wally know how you feel in person
Posted on 8/26/25 at 8:35 pm to tigerbait17
Tigerbait I really don't care about Wally he has never done anything to me personally. You seem very eager to stick up for him and Dixon. Have you actually ever heard Dixon call a game because I have and your going way out on a shaky limb. The majority of CHS people who know him and have heard him call games don't like him and think he is a joke. The only issue I have with Wally is he needs to let Dixon try to earn a job on his own merit not buy jobs for him with so called "donations" to CHS and LSU. Sorry you feel that pointing out facts makes me have a problem with the guy didnt realize I hurt your feelings too!
