I would say that exact same thing if Max Johnson wore a MAGA hat to walk down the hill before the game. Most sane people don’t want other people’s political views shoved in their face when they’re at a sporting event. Now if an athlete wants to post their beliefs on their Twitter, Instagram or whatever, idc about that at all. They’re allowed to have their opinion but there’s a time and place for that. It’s more of a “hey, look at me” move than anything else.

Watched part of the game. I don’t particularly enjoy soccer but it was entertaining, especially with the field conditions.

Ended up watch more of the LSU woman’s soccer game than the Football game in ESPN partially due to all the commercials.

This is what annoys me most about this topic. All these young kids act like America is the only nation on earth to have a history of slavery/racism. Watch European soccer and to this day black players are still getting racist chants thrown their way almost every match. But yet those players still stand and sing their countries anthem with pride bc they’re grateful to live in a country that gives them the opportunity to live their dream of playing soccer. They also realize a few racist a-holes doesn’t represent the majority of the country. Kids in America today have NO IDEA what oppression actually is.

Good for the women’s soccer team. Hopefully they continue their run. Always great to see a LSU team playing well on a National stage, regardless of sport.

Don't forget it was free admission and Youth Soccer Night which contributed mightily toward the ballooned attendance.

I took a look at the replay, and it showed both teams kneeling for about five seconds just before the start of the game. The teams were already on the field, clearly after the national anthem, and the announcers said what took place was a 'show of unity'. Is this the kneeling the OP referenced or did LSU kneel when the national anthem was played, too? The national anthem was not shown on the replay.

For me, kneeling with the other team the way it was shown on the telecast is different than kneeling during the national anthem, which is something many people view as disrespectful.

Nah. If all the two teams did was kneel for five seconds before the game started then its actually a concession that kneeling during the national anthem is disrespectful. You can call that making excuses if you want, but you can also call a bowl of chocolate pudding a pile of shite. Doesn't make it true.
