Agreed. Here are potential SEC vs SEC super match ups based on this projection:
Texas vs Tennessee
LSU vs Florida
Arkansas vs Alabama
Mississippi State vs Oklahoma
Vanderbilt vs Kentucky
I think USM would beat Bama
They can rake and they have a better bullpen than Bama

Arky is very tough at home

Do you not think Florida is one of the best 16 teams in the country....they have won 5 series in a row in the SEC...and could very well make it 6 in a row. Probably the hottest team in the country right now and probably a top 10 team.
It is a bad beat for NC State and for LSU if that were to happen.

you have no way of knowing that given the conference they came out of. Just think if we only went by non sec competition....we would seem invincible.

They were swept in 3 of their first 4 SEC series. It would’ve been all 4 had OM not coughed up the lead giving them 5 in the T9. UF was sooo glad to see Mizz in week 5. Talk about a slump buster.

Kendall trying to keep the faith with his Aggies is funny. First 4 out with an RPI of 59. A&M would have to sweep Georgia at Georgia to have even a chance of making it. Only first four list A&M should be on is first four in the toilet.
2 Aggie downvoters are in the thread. It is typical.
UGA takes 2/3, it ends their season. No amount of wins in the SEC Tourney can fix that except a Tourney title. It is a shame IF they start that bull shite of the Tourney mattering again. For years the SEC Office has manipulated that philosophy to fit the money grabbers.

I absolutely hate that they do this shite. Let the sec teams play other folks and meet in Omaha if they all make it. Stop cannibalism.
I hate it too. But, if the SEC gets 13 teams in the field, it's unavoidable.

LSU vs NC State in the SR with Will Wade in attendance.

They got smoked by OM, Vandy, Tenn, and UGA. All good teams
They were not the same team then as they’ve shown since. They’ve gotten healthier and have shown some growth after a terrible start. Lost some key guys to transfer which didn’t help obviously. Late out the gate but finishing strong. Similar to us last year.

Arkansas has been bad on the road.
quote:Texas was gifted an easy arse road schedule until of late and their first true test at Arky and they were swept. Let’s see how they respond this weekend at OU. That will be the next toughest test.
Texas was impressive. But they did just lose their ace, and have been lucky as hell for the first 2/3 of the season.

I think right now they are a top 10 team. They had some injuries early in the season and getting healthy. They are going to be a tough out in a 3 game series.

I dont really care what happens at Georgia. Getting swept by Mizzou should keep A&M out of the post season, period.
They shouldnt be rewarded for clearly not giving a flying frick about those games.

Indiana got in last year as a at large with an RPI of 55. A&M has a good chance of getting in with a series win at Georgia.
Considering there will be about 20 auto bids, they’ll probably also need to win 1 game in Hoover.

The only dependable attribute about these projections every baseball season is that none of them is accurate.

Indiana wasnt the preseason #1 with more talent than most other teams in the country. Indiana also had more Q1 wins and less Q1 losses than A&M currently. Indiana had a tougher NC SOS and a higher NC RPI. Indiana played less Q4 teams.
And basically any tough team A&M played out of conference they lost to. Including teams that will be in post season play. Texas St, UTSA, Arizona, Oklahoma St

Everything you mentioned is already baked into the RPI except for preseason #1. Preseason rankings are not a metric that the Committee uses. We all hate it, but they’re not dead yet.

I’m pretty sure the SEC tourney moved us up to the 2 line last season.

If Florida takes the Bama series, I bet they turn into a host site.

quote:Eh, our RPi was 30 and our ELO was 13 entering the SECT. LSU was in all likelihood already a 2 seed regardless what they did there. 4/5 SEC teams who finished 13-17 last year were 2 seeds just for reference

Possibly, it feels like a tossup. Florida is hot. Alabama has been at a pretty consistent level of play. The RPI would probably be close but bama might still be on top unless it’s a sweep. The series is at Florida.
