he PMAC needs luxury boxes and there is absolutely zero way to get them in that building's current iteration.

Classic example of trying to use a fancy word but not knowing what it means...

I don't think the PMAC is that bad. Just renovate the outside and inside. They need to spruce up game time excitement with some shirt guns, halftime performances or something. The halftime was so boring. At least get the dance team to perform. Other than the student hitting the half court shot for free Whataburger for a year the game day excitement sucked.

If a new Arena is built in a different location, will the names have to be the same or can they be changed?

Wade has said in the past that he cares a lot more about the practice facility being redone/upgraded than the actual arena.

It’s way better now. Besides a new arena would have much cooler separate facilities attached as well I’m sure.

$300 million. Seat licenses will triple. Be careful what you ask for

It would not even come close to this cost to build a new arena, let alone just do a full gut and remodel.

I did a thread on all this over a month ago when Wade first brought it up and in it did a breakdown on costs of new facilities built in the last 10 yrs and even had today’s dollars to build the same. The most expensive in today’s dollars was Oregon and still $40M less than what you’re saying.

And for comparison, Georgia Tech did a full gut and remodel on their facility, which is similar in style to the PMAC. What they did is awesome and only cost around $50M.

Here is the other info on new builds:

Auburn: Opened 2010; $86M ($102M today); seats 9,121
Oregon: Opened 2011; $227M ($261M today); seats 12,364
Nebraska (Pinnacle Bank Arena, used by the city as well): Opened 2013; $180.7M ($201M today); seats 15,500
Ole Miss: Opened 2016; $96.5M ($105M today approx.); seats 9,500
DePaul (Wintrust Arena, used by city as an event center & for WNBA team): Opened 2017; $173M; seats 10,387

Then why did spend the money on a new facility for a non revenue sport?
PMAC is home to 4 teams, the box 1

They need to DEMO the PMAC and create a space with bars and good food like Texas Live in Dallas has. That would make bank during all 3 seasons. Gives people a place to hangout and watch games all day.

This would be so Louisiana.

Unless, maybe, it was Harrah's Maravich Center.

It's been publicly suggested (maybe even here, too) that the likely course of action is to first build a new track and field stadium across Nicholson.

Then they could begin building the new arena where the Bernie Moore Track Stadium currently is.
