do you only know of 2 other coaches? I would take ANY FBS and probably several FCS head coaches over O. There are 500 people more qualified for that position than him.

Really?? That’s the deciding game? You do know that the great Nicky saban, and the all time winning coach at LSU, les miles, records were not great at Auburn.

We will know after the Auburn game if this offense is going to be something that can take us to the ship. After watching 3 games with 2 against good teams we will have a good idea if we can move the ball.

Do you really think this is a good refelection of O? If we got rid of Les for it, why are you satisfied with O doing the same?

Les was coaching that way against bama in yr 10-whatever of his time here, this is O second full season, give the man some, Jesus! We all know and can agree if he can’t win he is gone. I just think the man gets a crap deal bc he failed at ole piss 10 or 15 yrs ago.

Could not agree with you more sir. People complain that the rest of the country is ridiculing us because of O, yet the same people are in the middle of making fun of the situation themselves! If you are someone who says I want LSU to do well but not with O then you’re not really a fan of LSU. You are a fan of yourself. You want to say “I told you so” more than wanting LSU to win. How selfish can you get?!? If you want the rest of the country to stop making fun of LSU, start by not doing it yourself. You don’t have to be a believer in O but by feeding the hater frenzy you’re just making it harder for LSU to move forward if and when it does become time to make a change. Defend the institution you claim to be a fan of or find a better more positive way to expend your energy. Be a true fan, not a fair weather fan that is only supportive when things go your way. I’d really hate to be in a foxhole when bullets are flying with some of these “fans “ we have.

downward slide

Did that slide EVER include a home defeat by a SBC team or a historic loss to a mediocre Mississippi State team we have owned for 20 years? We played a SOS in 2015 ranked in the top five and loss three games. We played a SOS in 2017 ranked in the 30ies and loss four games. What kind of slide is that?

Why don't we piss on Les when we have a guy coaching us who has done better.

Well you’re wrong

He got a job at premier P5 school after going 6-2 twice in interim gigs.

He’s got a pretty good deal for a guy who still hasn’t broken through the .500 barrier.

I assume you mean "give the man some time." Why? He wasn't hired according to general, understood principles of how to hire a football coach. He was thrown a contract because "any idiot could win with this level of talent." He was brought in to win immediately, he's changed only about half the staff. He is not a rebuild, we still have talent, and have had talent, and the staff is basically the same. Especially at top level positions. So why does he then get the same benefits, time, and rope as someone who rebuilds an entire staff and program?

It wasn't sold as, nor has O treated as, some giant new project that "takes time."

We all know and can agree if he can’t win he is gone.

That's debatable as the goal posts are constantly moving on what "winning is."

Because he doesn't have a head coach resume between that and now. That was the last time he was in charge of a program. It is the only metric of comparison, and is one of the few ways we can use to determine whether or not he's changed as a coach. Which is the other "big sell" in the first place.

Are fricking kidding now? For years Miles was bashed not for not winning enough, but for too often winning ugly. It wasn't enough to just WIN, but it needed to be by more points, flashier, etc. Bludgeoning people was boring.

It's why you get fricking morons who'll suggest that Miles was NOT fired for averaging only 10 wins a season which ultimately meant we were out of the hunt for the SECW and all other major titles, but because his offense was old and boring. As if...had we only been running Texas Tech's Air Raid bullshite and still won nothing of note the idiots would have been more entertained and Miles would still be here.

So yeah...it's a long standing rule that HOW a team wins is ABSOLUTELY taken into account when judging a coach. Or have you forgotten Miles ALMOST losing to Tory (but, you know...not ACTUALLY losing) and catching absolute hell for it? LSU barely won...right?

And now? We've got idiots that'll excuse an ACTUAL loss to Troy, because...wait for it...they out manned us.

I can remember a time not so long ago when this board's consensus was that O should not even be let near our program.

Orgeron was a great fit for our program that was in decline and complete disarray at the time.

When Les was hired, did you think he was a “great fit?” O sycophants use him being a “great fit” because they know deep down he was, and still is, unqualified for the job he has.

It may get a whole lot worse Sunday night. The pressure on O will be unreal if LSU loses to Miami. I think we pull out a W but I think a lot of people are expecting way too much from Burrow and the offense.

Probably so. Same can already be said for the current head coach.

but it’s fact that miles led this program on the downward slide the last few yrs

Even if I were to agree with that, it was not a very steep slide. Miles worst season at 8-5 was 2014 In that season he was 5-5 vs teams with winning records. 2-3 vs teams that ended the season ranked in the FBS, 2-2 vs teams ranked when they played.

Meanwhile O was 2-4 vs winning teams in 2017 1-3 vs teams that ended up ranked at the end of the season though 2-2 vs teams that were ranked when we played.

Hopefully, O will have better results this year, but most so called "negativity" is people concerned that he may revert to his Ole Miss days.

I'm not enamored with him but I am pulling for him because I'd rather LSU win big than be right about it being a mistake to fire Miles only to hire Orgeron.

Here's hoping I'm wrong about the hire

Hell...I recall thinking he was a Cajun Trojan Horse sent in to destroy Ole Miss' program even further. He was an absolute joke of a hire then, and we laughed heartily at them for hiring them, and at his antics while there.

I knew enough about his tactics to want him no where near an LSU sideline, and Miles hiring him is a Top 10 thing that he did here that I disagreed with.

But now...we act like he's always been some awesome coach. The turn around, with exactly dick all actual experience of running his own program in a different way than he ran it at Ole Miss before getting this gig, has been mind boggling to watch.

You’re argument is that Ole Miss “couldn’t even win” Eli so O winning 10 games in 3 years is OK.

Like going 10-3 excuses going 10-25.

It’s not an argument. You claimed we DOMINATED Eli’s Ole Miss teams.

I pointed out that we in fact did not.
