re: Nebraska turned down Joe Burrow in 2018. Their QB tonight? 2 of 8, 3 Ints.

Honestly O took a gamble on joe because we didn’t have jack shite at qb. Luckily it paid off
At least he knew that, looks like Frost didn’t. I really believe Joe saved O’s job.

for some context, Martinez's numbers:
2018 (true freshman, 11 games)
passing: 65% comp, 2617 yds, 17 TD 8 int
rushing: 629 yds rushing, 8 TDs
2019 (4 games, not including tonight)
passing: 61.5 %, 1053 yds, 7 TD 2 int
rushing: 234 yds, 3 TD
he was the major bright spot for his team last year. while I'm sure it'd have been nice to have Burrow in hindsight, I'm not really sure Frost was "wrong" in his decision. well unless he was hiring Joe Brady to be his OC.

Exactly, a transfer QB wasnt going to magically save this team.
Thats why they are giving frost time. They understand now that its not an overnight process.

Nebraska's big mistake wasn't turning down Burrow when he was a grad transfer in 2018, it was not recruiting or offering him when he was in high school.
Given that his dad and both his brothers played at Nebraska, it was a place he was very interested in going to, but Bo Pelini and his staff didn't even check him out, leaving Herman and OSU to get him.
I've read conflicting reports whether he would have chose Nebraska over Ohio State, although he's lucky Nebraska didn't have their act together at the time.
It all worked out well for Burrow. Other than OSU, LSU is the perfect fit for him.

Frost is a small school coach.

Frost was a lot of Rantards plan B if Herman and Fisher fell through.

Frost is a very good coach. Ohio State is just way better right now.

Anybody on here saying Frost made the right call passing on Burrow is just dumb. Burrow’s attitude is just as important as his skill set for a team...plus he’s fricking good. LSU was the perfect fit for him though with Ensminger willing to play to his strengths

Burrow gives 100% in the weight room, film room, and on the practice field*. All that rah-rah BS is useless. Big-Time leaders lead with blood, sweat. and tears.
*and then again in offseason and after-practice workouts - Chase said JB was always available to WRs who needed extra time on something after practice.
I like Frost, but he fricked uo - glad he did

Maybe Frost is overrated. Nebraska has a talent problem but they don’t look particularly well coached. It’s much different playing P5 teams than that crap he faced in the AAC.

Never really understood the Nebraska hype. The triple option is the only offense that ever worked there.

Burrow transfer absolutely saved Orgeron and the LSU program. We probably lose to Miami and definitely lose to Auburn and Georgia last year without Burrow.
So getting Burrow bought LSU two more recruiting classes for relbuild/reload.
The commitment to the spread was made much easier because of Burrow.
Maybe Brennan can carry it on next year. Maybe not but Orgeron has gotten the program to another level

Burrow saved Orgeron job last year. Before Joe Brady was even considered. A Brennan McMillan QB room would have been 7 and 5 or worse last year.. killed recruiting again. Just a disaster.. avaoided. Very well done by Orgeron.

That article reads like a lot of conjecture and hypotheticals. Nothing of real substance there at all.

I don't think Nebraska is in a position to be turning anyone down.

The block only meant the scholarship couldn't transfer. Joe was free to pay for one year. Then Nebraska could pick it up. And the big-10 would have folded if brought to court. The only legal grounds the B1G has is non-compete - which flies in the face of "amateurism".

Thanks for the update, Mr. Burrow

Joe Burrow wasnt going to Nebraska.
Your fascination with this is weird.
He didnt go to Nebraska out of high school and he wasnt transferring there. Id tell you to get over it, but I dont understand why you even care in the first place.
