Oregon in trouble. I dont really care about them one way or the other but that sucks to see a bad call potentially end their season.

I know it is more than just that one call, but still.

It wasn't a bad call.

Dude ran over the catcher, which has been illegal in college baseball well before MLB changed the rule after the Buster Posey injury.

I think it's dumb to suspend the guy for the next game, but by the letter of the rule, it was the correct call for him to be out.

Cal Poly 9, Oregon 8 top 8

I think the announcer just said Oregon has five home runs.

My understanding is the catcher blocked the plate. I do agree the runner ran over the catcher. Should have just slid and there wouldn’t be an issue.

In my mind, run counts bc blocking the plate but fair to eject the runner due to the collision.

I don’t know enough about the rules to say if that is even a possibility to rule that. But that seems fair to me.

Catcher has a right to catch the ball and the throw took him to that spot.

The whole point of the rule being in place is to discourage collisions at the plate, granting a run doesn't do that.

Yeah I can see that. Again, I don’t know enough about the rules to say one or the other. I didn’t realize the catcher could block the plate in some circumstances like a poor throw.

But I have a question. Let’s say catcher was blocking the plate. But the runner still barrels him over. They both “broke” the rules. Is it bc the catcher broke the rule first, the runner is allowed to run him over? Or is runner still expected to slide? Does one trump the other? …I guess that’s 3 questions.

In that scenario, if the umpires deem that the catcher intentionally blocked the plate, then he's at fault and the run is granted.

Predicted 7-1 last night, and was close. 6-4 tigers tonight.

But does the runner get disciplined? Can he still be ejected for collision? Or does runner get to do whatever he wants if catcher blocks plate?

What we're learning from these elimination games today is that a lot of these teams are not deep in pitching at all.

A lot of runs across the country this morning and afternoon.

No idea, but I would assume there would be no discipline as it would be viewed that the catcher was the one that initiated the contact.

if I recall, I think the umps are supposed to discern if the runner colliding was malicious. Which makes the call last night so much worse. Not sure if that's true.

Yeah. I’m wondering if they could say, run counts but runner ejected for contact. And then play on.

No team is deep in pitching.

Been trying to tell all the bitches all year that cry we don’t have 15 lockdowns in the pen.
