No need to bash Walker or any of our remaining QBs.

Since JD is coming back, he’ll be the starter next year (he’s not risking his draft stock to be a backup).

Then you have Nuss starting for another year or two after that.

It’s not realistic to expect Walker to wait 3-4 years to play.

Either Walker or Nuss we’re going to leave as a result of the JD return. That’s just the natural effect.

And based on the very small sample sizes we’ve seen so far, I think we’ll be in good hands with Nuss after JD.

Best of luck to Walker.

Walker said whoa this JD guy is good and this Nuss guy has balls. I’m scared to death. Better get out of here.

JD has nothing to do with it

If JD leaves, Nuss starts 23, 24, and 25 (likely).

I agree. And Hurley would beat him out anyway imho 25 season.

He’s smart to leave. He would end up Myles Brennan. Sure he will go on to have a great college career.

This is way too simplistic & logical for the rant to grasp. You of all people should know that

JD has everything to do with it. As a backup next year there's a path to play(injuries, poor play etc) as third sting there's no path

How is that any different then when he signed? JD and Brennan are the only variables that are different in the QB room. Nuss was a known obstacle with no secrets in his remaining eligibility.

I agree, but at the same time it should be considered a risk. Just because he returned and is the starter does not mean he should be some guy you can't ever bench.

It has everything to do with JD.

Adding JD adds another year of him as a starter and delays Nuss’ tenure by a year.

Nuss will play one or two years as a starter. It’s just that he’ll start that tenure in 2024 instead of 2023 now.

Nuss is already coming into his 3rd year. He’s not going to start 3 years. If he’s good, he’ll leave to the NFL after a year or two as a starter. And if he’s not good, no chance he holds down the job for 3 years.

You can’t possibly believe JD has draft stock. You have to be joking right?

Everything I saw about next years top prospects he isn’t even in the top 10.

I agree that he’s not immune to benching but Kelly very clearly stated to everyone that JD is the starter and that there is no QB controversy.

I can find the exact press conference quote.

So not immune to benching, but JD is QB1 and will get every chance to be that next year even if some us disagree. Kelly has said the same. And think about it, why else would you risk coming back?

Disagree.

Had JD5 went to the NFL, Nuss was clearly the guy to likely win the Job for QB1 for fall 2023 (his play vs. UGA and Purdue showed big time improvement), Walker is sitting behind Nuss for 2/3 years.

Related to above, I get the sense after being here for 1 year, Nuss was clearly QB2 for next year and Howard did not see himself winning QB1 for the 2024 season.

Howard from what I can tell is not much bigger than he was 1 year ago when he signed. Nuss, on the other hand, has filled out very well regarding is body and moves well in the pocket and has arm talent matching Howards. In addition, Nuss as I watch him more and more these last 2 games, the ball comes off really quick in terms of his release with significant velocity (elite velocity).

Adding to the above, I wish Howard would have stayed and competed for the starting 2024 job. Players develop which suggest he did not want to do that, or he felt it was going to be difficult to win 2024 QB1.

Lots of QB rooms at top level SEC and P5 schools are crowded with QB's.

Take for example Alabama

2023 signing class, 2 top 140 players (high 4 ****) in the country. Dylan Lonergan 6-2 215 from GA and Holstein from LA-Zachery 6-4 220. Both are enrolled at Alabama and will go through spring 2023 ball

In 2022, Alabama signed Ty Simpson 6-2 200 out of TENN who was a 5 ***** (he Redshirted this year)

In 2021, they signed Jalen Milroe, 6-3 210 from Texas, top 100 player and 4 ****

So in spring 2023 ball competing for QB roster spots for the 2023 season, Bama has a player who will be a RS Sophomore, a RS Freshman and 2 True Freshman.

All 247 Composite top 150 type players. 2 of those guys will not complete their eligibility at Bama.

UGA's room looks similar to Bama's I think they have signed

2020 4 star Carson Beck 6-4 230 Pro Style
2021 5 star Brock Vandergrift 6-3 205 Pro Style
2022 4 star Gunner Stockton 6-1 220 more duel threat

UGA did not sign a top notch QB in 2023, that is not surprising given the 3 they have that sat behind Stetson this year.

Looks like Beck is #2, can they keep both Vandergrift and Stockton the entire time. Beck starts 2023 and 2024, that means Vandergrift starts 1 year in 2025, and then Stockton 1 year in 2026, assuming they both want to sit behind Beck for the next 2 years.

Walker was expecting to battle it out with Nuss this spring or be the starter of JD left and Nuss transferred.
JD coming back threw that plan off by one year

Higher rated or even mid range players are going to be less likely to sit and wait 2-3 years for a chance to start. The portal creates an opportunity for these kids to position themselves for more immediate playing time. I don't like it, but certainly understand. It's a business and these kids are looking for the best situation that benefits their future.

Bashing kids for putting their future above your fandom makes you look like a jack arse.

Howard was expecting to battle it out with Nuss in the Spring of this year for the starting job. Or he was expecting JD to leave and Nuss to transfer so he could start this year potentially.
JD coming back took a shite on this plans.
Let's see how this all plays out.

I get that and agree. Nuss' eligibility was known when Howard signed.
