Does anyone remember where we were at this point in 2007? Not that it matters ... I'm just curious.

And to whomever said it's a slim chance, my hopes aren't UP ... HOWEVER, back in 2007 I literally wrote down what LSUMATT said had to happen and as it happened I'd scratch it off the list ... and guess what? It ALL HAPPENED!!!!

I should add ... I'm a girl. I SHOULD NOT CARE THIS MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!

LSU 4th in the computers, ahead of Boise

Don't know how we catch TCU, though

We catch Boise easily if we finish 12-1. Probably even if we finish 11-1.

1 Oregon .9638
2 Auburn .9611
3 TCU .9259
4 Boise State .8662
5 LSU .8170
6 Stanford .7454

I am wondering how much our strength of schedule makes up if we win out when looking at the BCS scores, especially with this scenario.

LSU wins out and Auburn drops one game and Loses SECCG. We don't get the extra bump of playing in the SECCG and winning?

I'm not superstitious but you should do this exact same thing. Just saying.

My dream scenario (if LSU doesn't play for the crystal ball, of course):

Auburn beats Oregon for the MNC (Auburn vacates all wins and championship after CamGate investigation concludes).
LSU wins out and beats TCU by 30 in the Sugar Bowl.
Nebraska beats Boise by 30 in the Fiesta Bowl.

No non-BCS teams are ever seriously considered contenders for the National Championship ever again, ever.

Bonus: Les Miles bolts to Michigan, Gary Patterson realizes he needs a better job to get a championship and comes to LSU.

We will be atleast # 3 in the computers and a close second in the computers if everyone wins out.

You're an absolute freaking idiot wishing that Miles, a coach who has LSU in the BCS title hunt (again) would leave.

Once again, I'm proven right. Some (lots of) people just have an irrational hatred of Miles. I personally hope that he's here for the next 20 years.

Ok, no. There's some serious error in logic right here. If LSU wins out, they go to a BCS bowl and their is no other possible scenerio if the SEC sends two schools to BCS bowls an 11-1 LSU would go. A two or three loss east team would not and I repeat WOULD NOT jump LSU for a BCS bowl bid. Also, A two loss Bama team would not go ahead of a 1 loss LSU just because they upset auburn with a head to head loss versus lsu and the hit to the coaches poll ranking they just took from losing to LSU. They are too far behind without LSU needing to lose a game now as well.

So after watching the BCS show, realistically, we'll need Oregon to lose once, Auburn to lose twice, and either Boise to lose to Nevada or TCU to lose to San Diego State? And we have to win out, of course.

No. I just think that Patterson could be a better coach at LSU than Miles. There are many coaches who are worse than Miles. But, I think that LSU could get one of the few ones that are better than him.

so much vile talk among the posters.

I am delighted LSU is #5. They will be pushed by Stanford at #6.

Stanford is more motivated, from here in, than LSU.

If Stanford or LSU or any BCS team, is in the top 4, they are guaranteed a spot in a BCS bowl.
LSU will be picked to host the Sugar if they are 11-1 or maybe even 10-2, if they lose to Ole Miss but beat Arky. Stanford will be left out unless they make it to #4.
The BCS spot Stanford might have got will go to TCU, in the Rose Bowl.

Stanford is playing to keep from being pushed aside by The Ohio State or Wisc, if one of them is co-champ
along with MIch State, who would play TCU in the Rose, since its been the longest since Mich State represented. Stanford has to impress the human voters and beat out Wisc and tOSU and LSU for #4.
LSU must look sharp in all its games, to move up to #4.
I think there will be psychological room for Stanford to move up to #4. They can look terrific.
I would like to see Jarrett get a couple of series in the first half.
I do not think you can beat Ark on the same plays that JJ finally was able to complete. Jarrett has more throws.
I think its important to keep on developing Jarrett, vs U La La.

Its a YIPPEE day. LSU has arrived back on top.
Good for the whole team.
Now they have to play at that level for a few in a row.
Four more like that would be ideal.

Not sure if we can jump Boise in one week, but it will happen by the end of the season if we both win out. Boise could very well be undefeated and playing in the Pointsetta Bowl.

We might need for Oregon to be embarrassed, or the voters could manipulate it so a 1 loss Oregon doesn't drop below LSU. Computer score will help our chances though.

We would probably be 1st or 2nd in the computer, but the human polls would have to fall right. If we're 3 in both of the polls our computer score would probably deliver for us. 4th or 5th by the humans with wide margins in total points could hurt us.
