They've been predicting Bama for a while now, and mostly because they think that Bama is so well coached. During the ESPN All-Access, Rinaldi commented to Saban that his teams are so good after bye weeks, blah, blah, blah...

We all know that after bye weeks Saban is very average. Yet the national media has this perception built up of Saban, and they assume that he will always outcoach someone. My opinion on Saban, formed while he was at LSU, is that while he is a great recruiter, head of the program, talent evaluator, defensive mind, etc., he does sometimes lack actual game-time decisions. I don't mean in game planning, I mean in deciding when to go for it on 4th down, when to play conservative, when to open up the offense, and things of that nature.

And an entire new thread is needed, but I also feel that Les Miles is very underrated by the national media.

I brought this up last night and people shot me down. I agree, it's very frustrating. Who had more talent last year? LSU or Bama? Where was Saban on that one?

I'll admit that, unlike Choctaw, I haven't always had faith in Miles, but I was upset when Sports Illustrated ranked the college coaches in the preseason edition and ranked Miles #8, behind guys like Chizik and Kelly.

Saban is more nervous as a result of all this b.s. Now if he loses, people are gonna have to come up with something bama did poorly, which gave us the game.

We're gonna manhandle Bama, and nobody wants to admit it. It's like the old line about someone in denial, "Ya not foolin' anybody but yourself!"
That's what natl media is doing.

Regardless of the outcome, I'm just sick of the talk that "miles has to win (insert future game)" in order to validate himself.

He had some head scratchers at Michigan State too. His MSU teams always seemed to get clobbered in bowl games as well.

How is it that they are giving him too much credit? The guy has won national championships at two different schools with one undefeated season.

Nobody is saying he isn't one of the best coaches in the country, just noting the lack of respect for Miles and the idea that Saban is infallible.

Coaching will end up being highly overrated in this game. The outcome of this game will be decided by which team is more physical and can impose its will on the other. The respective coaches have done all they can do for their teams at this point, for this game, until it's over Saturday night.

Saban has losses against UAB, ULM, and Utah at far superior programs. He is a great coach, but not a god of coaching that some make him out to be.

Its a by product of the overinformation age. Hyperbole gets out of hand. Nick Saban is a great coach, I'd say the best coach in the country, but that doesn't mean he's infallible or that other top tier coaches aren't also great or that he won't lose a game.

I think Saban coached very tight in both BCSCG games. Against Texas, they let UT get back in the game with a back up freshman QB.

This game will come down to execution, not coaching.

But Saban went undefeated with Shula's recruits.
