If I’m picking a mid-major guy, I’m going with Olen. I read up on him last year when I thought a change might be coming. Seems really solid, build UCSD program, and if I’m remembering correctly, he’s from Mobile.

Interesting option. Former assistant and primary recruiter at Alabama under Oats. Had a good two year stint at Arkansas State and won the AAC this year in his first season at S. Florida.
Thought to be a primary target of Syracuse because he is originally from western NY

Brad Stevens? I mean yeah, that would be nice, but come on man. Be realistic.

Yep, went to McGill Toolen then played at Spring Hill. Smart guy. Followed his coach from Spring Hill to UCSB. Improved the hell out of that UCSB program and brought them to D1.

This year was his 1st year as a head coach in his career and he lost the the tournament tile today. He’s not ready yet!

Penny Hardaway could become available
There’s a reason for that. This is Memphis’ first losing season since 1999.

He was heavily outgunned and out experienced on the personnel side. He’s very likely a can’t miss, the group of guys he came up with are all excellent coaches.

Absolutely not! Great recruiter but He is a horrendous Xs and Os coach. He’s no different from Johnny Jones! No MFing way!

Other than Wade, who would take the job?
You think LSU has great options in MBB other than Wade (and even that depends on LSU guaranteeing Wade a lot of NIL)?
If LSU isn’t prepared to do that,
I say just shut it down and give all that basketball money to Jay Johnson if they’re sticking to McMahon. Baseball dynasty would be the result with a coach who has proven he can do it.

Solid coach but he ain’t coming here. He either going to some school in the northeast or join his brother’s staff at UConn.

Penny was a great recruiter before NIL. Then he did ok the first few years of NiL building mid-major super teams because Memphis spends more than any of them. But that was before everyone in major conferences went all in on spending money.
Penny can coach one thing- defense. But he’s one of the worst offensive basketball coaches I’ve ever seen. He was always totally dependent on his staff, and that had a constant revolving door. He’s also a poor program manager. There has always been some kind of drama around the program.
Penny was always limited, but now he’s completely useless. He needs to retire and move on from pretending to be a college basketball coach.

That’s a nice pull there. Let’s see how he does in mountain west tournament.

McNamara is good but I see him going to Syracuse
Kevin Keets absolutely not! If you take away his final four year, his career at ncstate was mediocre.
Andy Enfield is good coach but he’s not coming here
