Probably not tougher than Art but I’ll throw out the name of another old timer. Robert Ryder was an offensive lineman and captain in the late 60’s. I met him in the 80’s. He was in the banking business and we had some mutual friends. Very nice guy that probably never would start any trouble but you didn’t want to get into it with him. One night a few of us had meet in the French Quarter for some drinks. We would sometimes move from one watering hole to another. One of the guys, not Robert, got jumped by two strangers. I don’t know who started it or what started it but I know Robert dispatched both in short order. I was impressd.

I heard Doug Pllanchard could get chippy if someone tried to get the NC trophy from him

Suprised noone has mentioned AJ Duhe. This guy ruled Broussard Hall and was a real badass

Eric Hill

At the '88 Miami game, I believe it was after a Miami TD early in the second half, an empty whisky bottle came flying out of the stands into the end zone. Hill was following on the play and the bottle landed right at his feet. He picked it up and just flung it right back into the stands. I remember thinking I didn't want to be on the receiving end of THAT.

Wasn't Rusty Domingue involved in some knife-wielding fight incident in 1976, after LSU's tie game vs Nebraska?

i remember that. knew the guy that got stabbed.
unfortunate incident for both guys.
i think Rusty Domingue blocked the Nebraska field goal which ended the game in a tie.

historical post.

I’m from down the bayou but I’m a good bit younger than andolsek, but I’ve heard the stories. He used to fish a lot in the offseason and i met him a few times. I’d put my money on him over any of the ones mentioned just on pure size and strength. Dude was a monster and looked like you could hit him with a bat and it wouldn’t affect him. Coolest story I ever heard about him though was that when he was killed, Barry Sanders was on a cruise and had a helicopter airlift him off of it so he could get to Thibodaux. Onions to this day

Just to add a couple names that haven’t been mentioned.

He was a badass...how much compared to the others, idk. But if we talking bout crazy mofos, Nicky Savoie is right up there. I’ve seen him drunk and belligerent a few times and ain’t NOBODY telling him to calm down lol.

Another, wasn’t a player, but still an LSU legend and a hothead...Alvin Roy

Art Cantrell was as bad as the come. He has turned several bar rooms into parking lots.
