Carter, your granddad, Mr. Lindsey, was indeed a fine man. He did not look at those kids as juvenile delinquents but as kids who mostly never had a chance.

Cantrelle was tough, but I believe Joe Labruzzo was a much tougher MF. Some bad-arse went after Labruzzo's friend, Don Schwab in the Broussard Hall parking lot. Labruzzo intervened - the guy stabbed Labruzzo. Joe ran down the guy and beat the shite out of him bleeding all over the place. They had to pull Joe off before he killed him.

Steve Rehage was one crazy SOB. Threw his body horizontal to take out multiple players on kick-offs.
Everyone in the 80's loved this guy!

There’s some wild stories about Cantrellle and his days on campus..

Back in the 1960s the Tigers had scads of tough-as-nails RBs. Member Frank Matte, Jim Dousay, Gawain DiBetta, Don Schwab or Danny LeBlanc? How about Del Walker, Earl Gros or Charley Crawford? Those guys were incredibly small by today's standards, but packed a punch.
Now whatever happened to Buddy Hamic, and Buddy Soefker?

Wasn't Rusty Domingue involved in some knife-wielding fight incident in 1976, after LSU's tie game vs Nebraska?

I have heard stories about Art Cantrell. He was pound for pound toughest guy to ever play for LSU from what I heard. I believe he only weighed 165- 185 pounds? But also in the 80's there was a guy name Rusty Brown I believe. He was the wedge smasher on the kickoff team. One fearless badass SOB. Would literally fly through the air like a missle into the wedge of blockers in the front of the kickoff return. Was awesome to watch.5'10"' 185 pounds I believe.

I’m from the South Lafourche area and know Art Cantrelle is from the bayou but ended up at Biloxi High. What’s the story there? Or ahould I just ask my dad or grandpa tomorrow? Lol

One of my all time favs. Undersized but strong as an ox. Hard to bring down. Loved watching him run. Along with Chris Dantin and Brad Davis.
