Dude was a 5 star and hyped to the moon. Just ask everyone who was okay with losing out on Arch because we got him

A lot of even P5 programs would never have a chance at either him or Arch

That doesn’t matter anymore. Star rankings are irrelevant the second you step on campus.

Fans? Fans are dumb

And don’t misunderstand. I’m not saying he couldn’t start at a lot of schools eventually. I said next year.

In the PAC 12: every school except Stanford either returns a starter or already signed an experienced QB in the portal. And they don’t take transfers.

SEC? Maybe Auburn or Vandy. But Auburn is still looking for a veteran in the portal.

ACC? Maybe BC.

Big 10? Maybe Rutgers

Big 12? Maybe Texas Tech? But they have a covid senior returning.

Not sure where you are getting your info.

Maybe at LSU because everyone has some

Half the P5 doesn’t play in the same stratosphere of talent as LSU. The results have bore this out since Saban was here.

bullshite. Some of you overrate “your guy,” no matter who they are, so fricking badly. Howard isn’t ready to start. He isn’t even ready to push Nuss for number 2 and get into the competition. I thought he would be there by the end of this season; but he isn’t.

If Howard couldn’t beat out Nuss in an offense he’s had time to learn here, then he’s not going to show up somewhere and take a job from a good or better incumbent starter who has advantages in both experience and knowing the offense. You are either stupid or ignorant if you believe he will.

So it is all hypothetical however, Howard being the higher rated recruit would ensure more reps and earlier opportunities

Ratings don’t mean shite once you step on campus. The coach trusting you matters. Leadership matters. Knowing the offense matters. Knowing your teammates matters. Morris has a jump on every aspect at TCU and has already been named the starter before over a more experienced Duggan, which should tell you that Dykes thinks highly of him.

Just in the SEC he could start at Auburn or Kentucky. I don’t follow lower tier P5 schools but a lot of their QBs are arse

He could maybe challenge at Auburn if he improves a lot, but he wouldn’t have a fricking chance at UK unless he brakes Leary’s legs.

I bought into the Howard hype when he signed, but ... yeah, I agree with you on this. The kid I saw play a couple times was NOT READY to see the field at all this year. That includes the bowl game, where, keep in mind, he had more time in the system than Nussmeier had when he played Arkansas last year.

I can't see him being a high priority sign for anyone good. MAYBE a signing for depth and to develop, but he was already that here- a ranked program that is on the rise again.

People say things like TCU, but they just made the playoffs (and beat Michigan before getting smashed by UGA). I don't know that a couple guys who couldn't see the field at LSU are going to roll in and take over... I think those guys are maybe in for a rude awakening.
And if that's the case, good. We need to lose guys with that mindset here, we need guys willing to work.

Unless he’s going G5, he had as good a chance to win the job here as anywhere else.

I would go to a smaller school for a year or two, then jump back to P5.

Did Houston get a new QB yet?

He more than likely will have to sit wherever he goes another year.

This is why I am almost certain that he knows Nuss isn’t going anywhere because he wants to leave and go sit a year at a place where he will be the front runner for the starting job in 2024. As of now that person is Nuss at LSU.

The problem I have with this is you’re basing your opinion on a handful of plays of real game footage when he was playing scout team the entire fricking season.

All I hear when I bring up how much potential he has at QB is “well you can’t say that for certain, he hasn’t done anything in a real game.” Yet to make yourself feel better about him leaving, you’re thoroughly convinced he’s a bum based on the same handful of plays in a meaningless bowl game where he had NO real game experience or practice with the first team the entire year

Not to derail the point of the thread but, Howard will at least have the opportunity to compete for the starting QB spot in the spring and Fall. I think that’s all he wanted. To not have to throw to walk-ons all practice and just have the opportunity for more playing time before starting the next season
