what kind of velocity is Jump getting - the broadcast isn't showing it.

I've heard 94 mentioned.

This umps zone keeps shrinking for Jump.

Routine for this level

You see MLB shortstops spike double play balls all of the time. It’s one of the hardest things to do in the middle infield.

Is it a play that SHOULD be made? Yes.

Is there zero reason it’s not made? Cmon man. There’s a ton of moving parts that all have to be done with perfect timing with a man barreling down the base paths straight for you. There are dozens of reasons why the throw is in the dirt. It’s not like he threw it 6 rows into the bleachers.

Late on this, but Milazzo really needs to dial in his defense. For years he's been the go to defensive catcher. But he's been good for at least 1 wild pitch per game this year. 1 vs VMI, 1 vs VMI (2nd game), 1 vs UCA (2nd game), and 1 today. The 1 vs UCA lead to a RBI single to cut the LSU lead to 4-3, and the 1 today gave up a run.

Not sure about innings caught, but Neal has allowed 3 WPs (all in 1 game) and Travinski 1 in limited reps.

I know WPs are counted against the pitcher, but these days the scorer doesn't give a passed ball unless the catcher basically forgets to catch the ball.

People really do not understand baseball sometimes. Jones has the unfortunate privilege of following as good a defensive first baseman as I remember at LSU. And first if often a place they put marginal infielders to get their bat in the lineup anyway. Jones has work to do still but he is not a bad first baseman.

I think Jones isn't a good defensive first baseman, and why would he be? It's not his natural position. He had trouble receiving the ball last year. That said, your point is right that he is more than serviceable at first given his bat. I think people just need to acknowledge he's not a plus at all there defensively, but that's not why he's there.

Jump is going to be an X factor in this rotation once he is stretched out. The pitch mix is there.

Jump at 43 pitches, wonder if they even bring him out for 3rd, they said 45-50 pitches for him today. Maybe he gets 1 batter

He did well after the up&down.

If they bring him back out, I think it would be for more than one batter though. If they're going to do another up&down, they'll make it worth it.

I have officially hit the age where I don’t understand the younger generation. What’s with the young dudes making the pole smoking gesture like they are Mia Khalifa???
