Because we have away more anti-capitalists than you would think when it comes to potentially affect THEIR entertainment.

Whats so bad about players using their likeness?

Nothing. In a free society, a man should be able to use his own likeness for whatever legal endeavor is available to him without arbitrary restriction.

Some restrictions make sense, prohibiting advertising for gambling, rival organizations, probably a few other things. But to prohibit a student athlete from doing something to make money that would be legally permissible if they were simply a student seems ludicrous.

Stupid forward pass! I like football the way it is!

Change is constant. Let’s enjoy the chaos that is about to take place…

The TRUTH is that people watch college football, primarily, to support their school first and foremost. If you took the same product but removed the school connection, people wouldn’t watch.

Not sure what that has to do with paying players but I would imagine the main reason that people follow LSU is that they can identify with the team. The fact that that team is identified with a University is just the way history has played out. How many people in Louisiana have been avid Tiger football fans who have never taken one class? People identify with it because it is Louisiana's team and something that the average person can take pride in and find fun and enjoyment through. The traditions, the food, the music are all a part of that. All of those people who you say are part of the entertainment are people who live off of the sport not people who make the sport possible. There was LSU football long before there was an ESPN or even TV. There was a time when you actually had to go to the stadium to see a game.

Hyperbole

I don't think you know the difference between a FACT and hyperbole so lets break it down for the simple folks that can't see past their nose.

1. Ability to transfer any time and play the next year. FACT
2. Refusal to play. I believe we called this an opt-out. FACT
3. No real salary cap. No set limits on NIL deals. FACT

And all of these things will lead to a never ending "free agent" cycle where the teams in large markets or with the most booster support will not only sign the best recruiting classes but also bring in the best players from other schools by offering a better NIL deal.

I don't see how the ncaa would be able to police this. I could see this happening.

If you want a top transfer, just have a millionaire booster give him a 100,000 deal.

Yup, and there isn't a business model that can be created to survive this... not on this scale.

Work ethic is going to decrease for some, kids bust thier arse to make it to the NFL... now they gonna get paid even more.

Self entitlement gonna sky rocket. Many players will be more focused on thier brand and image than the game.

Just make a NFL farm league and be done with it.

The best players will get the best NIL deals.

If anything it incentives them to perform.

Again: mediocre players aren’t going to be getting big deals. None of these deals will compete with an NFL contract.

And he was a head saw without endorsements.

He’s an elite prospect and yeah they’ll probably get decent endorsements but they’re not gonna make the same kinda money as an NFL player or an elite College Player if they don’t perform.

Gilbert would get more money out of high school than A Baker Mayfield, but if he doesn’t play well he ain’t going to be making the kind of money Baker could have made his last couple years at OU.

And if he doesn’t play well he won’t get drafted high in the NFL draft where the real money is.

Just a little balance by looking at the other side.
1. Coaches have always had the option of pulling a player's scholarship if they think they haven't performed as well as originally thought.
2. Coaches have always had the ability to not play someone. That's the coaches decision based on ability, health, etc. Now it just gives the player the same right if he feels he hasn't been treated fairly in some manner. I do believe they shouldn't be allowed to opt out after the season starts.
3. This I agree with. Should be some type of limits set.
