What you have to do is go into the game expecting LSU to lose, players to play terribly, and Miles to make bonehead mistakes. Then if some of that doesnt happen, you are pleasantly suprised and tolerable to be around.

Or just watch the game, knowing you have no control over it.

It's OK to get upset. Hell, I get pissed off too, but you shouldn't get pissed to the point where you allow it to negatively affect other people (especially children) who you are watching the game with you.

My question is this. Should I make a concerted effort to tone it down in an attempt to be a better husband, or should I continue going with my motto of "hey, if it doesn't really matter who wins to you, then don't freakin watch the game".

You should tone it down to be a better person. I love LSU football, and have lived and died it from the time I was 12 years old in 1982...but I'm not a fricking maniac who can't control himself. There's a VERY large gap between not caring which team wins or loses and being inconsolable about the outcome of a game.

Can't speak for your wife, but I'll be honest when I say that it's people that act this way at games that have taken a good deal of enjoyment out of game day for me.

You asked...

The only two of these that don't make you seem like a raving mad lunatic that has major anger problems are
quote:

4. MF'ing and GD'ing the world during the Alabama game(s). No one other than her was a witness thereto.

and

6. During the Georgia game, when Lee threw bunch of pics, I did not want to hang around at the tailgate after the game, and wanted to go back to the hotel. My assholery was in full bloom that day for sure.

You don't sound like a lot of fun to watch a game with, that's for damn sure. You're a grown man, act like one.

My dad had similar issues, especially in the 1990s when we were terrible. Low expectations did little to cull his anger.

He took up riding a stationary exercise bike during games. When that wasn't enough, he chewed on a hand towel. That seemed to work, and the towel muffled his screams.

And the more we sucked, the more in shape my dad got. Win win.

Just to reiterate the point: your wife isn't being unreasonable. No one would enjoy watching football with you.

Well you apparently acted this way before you were married to her, right? And she still married you after seeing this behavior?
