This is my honest answer.
I respect your right to get as emotional as you want. That being said....I'm glad I don't have to watch a football game with you. I get boiling mad too.....I just don't express it the way you do. I understand your wife's position on this. You can take the attitude "I'll do what I damn well please" or you can listen to the request by your wife and ease up. Any successful marraige I know requires compromise.

I am 46. My wife is an LSU grad, and understands how important LSU football is to me specifically, and to La's culture in general.
If you have guns please have your wife lock them down in a hidden place when any LSU sports event is ongoing. After reading some Boxtards comments during regionals and CWS I think many are underselling their own frustration levels with LSU sports at times. Can't help with the throwing shite off an elevated deck, that is out there.

My question is this. Should I make a concerted effort to tone it down in an attempt to be a better husband, or should I continue going with my motto of "hey, if it doesn't really matter who wins to you, then don't freakin watch the game".
Yes, you should tone it down. Not because it will make you a better husband, but because you're fricking crazy.
And it does matter to me, I will watch the game, I will also not throw a temper tantrum like a 5 year old when things don't go my way.
You live a sad few months during football season if this is how you act.

The bulk of this thread is annoying.
Is there anything more tiresome than a gaggle of virtual conformists unleashing their self-righteous sanctimony? As if most of the people here have never sworn, or screamed, or become heated during an LSU sporting event, or said something irrational about an opposing coach or player. As if the vast majority of LSU fans quietly deliberate the inevitable frailty of man during the fourth quarter of the Alabama game, then calmly exit Tiger Stadium while contemplating how to perpetuate social justice.
Jesus.
So far as I can tell from your post, you have committed no crime and injured only inanimate objects. If you feel deeply about LSU sports and you want to rage, go ahead and rage, my friend. Voice your passion. If others ridicule, I suggest you ignore them. The world is full of effete bores. Unfortunately, for many men, "growing up" means becoming an apathetic mound of accumulating fat, without emotion or passion, spewing sententious platitudes on the Internet. That is why Tiger Stadium is dying, filled up with dilletantes who come late, leave early, and can't be troubled to stand or expend too much energy.
frick it, if you love LSU football, yell your arse off. Chuck a bottle or two. Use a cathartic swear word. Nothing wrong with it so long as you aren't actually physically injuring another human being. Just a measure of your love. People should recall that the entire mythos of Tiger Stadium is built on fanatics like TigerTrey. There is a reason that opposing teams were once terrified - truly scared - of coming to play in Baton Rouge. The rattling fence? The rocking buses? The demented, monomaniacal Tigerbait cheers? The deafening noise? The smell of bourbon on the field? Those aren't the product of reserve.

Not reading this whole thread, but you are either the most immature 46 year old on the planet or are trolling us all with this post.

This fricking guy. You think his behavior is acceptable for a 46 yr old man?

You sound like you aren't looking for advice, but validation for your childish antics.

I think most lsu fans do this if they are invested into lsu football. Nothing wrong with this. LSU just needs to keep winning so we don't have to do many of these things again.

I think a man is entitled to behave exactly as he pleases, so long as he doesn't break the law or injure others. In fact, I would say that is the essence of manhood.
When I walked out of the Superdome on 1/9/12, 75% of the fans I saw were infuriated, swearing, throwing their LSU towels on the ground in disgust, and generally venting. Some were doing much worse. I guess they all need to "grow up."
The self-righteousness arrogance in this thread is almost intolerable.

Uhh, shouldn't his love of his wife overrride his love of a College Football team?
His wife/friends/kids are obviously at least somewhat threatened. The dude is 46.

So being a man is breaking stuff over a football game you have no control over?
