My rant

I think I’ve got a pretty good handle on how hard it is to be really really good, so I don’t expect championship year in and year out.
But I do expect as our program, we could lose all our guys and literally have to sign 34 new players in baseball between highschoolers and portal and we should never ever ever miss the NCAA tournament and ahould never get swept by nearly half of our SEC series.
The staff has failed spectacularly this year. The pieces were there to finish 20 to 25% better than we will but not enough pieces to be awesome, which is another miss, but enough that we shouldn’t be this abhorrent.

Seems to me that I heard CJJ take responsibility...he said that he should have kept some of the guys who left & that they missed badly on some of the guys they brought in & he made his point about men's baseball cut on the NIL pie.
I also seem to remember that he & that staff was pretty busy in the summer of '25 when the portal opened up...oh yea...they was winning us number 8.
I join the krewe who hates what has happened this year, but I believe we are having a joy ride compared to what CJJ is having. I learned a long time ago that when someone with ability takes it on the chin & accepts responsibility, good thing usually follow.
I think we will be OK.

Jay is a great coach. And everyone can blame the transfers, but it goes deeper than that. Most of the returning players (especially pitchers), did not develop into better players from last year to now. It’s hard to claim the transfers lack talent when we couldn’t develop those that we already had.
Jay will get it figured out, but the talent level on this team is better than the record.

How does it work with you and Project Pat having the same job? Do yall take shifts covering for Jay?

Some of the blame goes to the baseball calendar. This staff missed on just about everyone but there were guys that they wanted that signed elsewhere or they fell really behind on in their recruitment while they were playing for a championship in Omaha. The Ncaa puts teams playing deep into Omaha at a pretty decent disadvantage.

or maybe they are not that talented. how can you tell?
its not like this is the team with Stanley roberts and shaq and CJ and we can look back and wonder how they didnt make the final four.
maybe these guys are not that great. beyond curiel where is the high level talent?

With no injuries the season probably ends in disappointment, but they make the tourney.

So several of them were talented enough to contribute to the natty last year and suddenly forgot how to be talented?
New role or not, Evans is worse than he was a year ago. Cooper Williams was great last year and now he’s at the very back of a bad staff. While Schmidt looks better than he did last year, does anyone think he’s performing to his level? 10 returning pitchers this year, go look to see how many of them improved since last year.
Even if we call them “portal busts”, does anyone honestly think the level of talent on the rest of this team is worse than almost the entire SEC? 9-18.

I would be happy to see your stats on how they played worse. I know curiel is playing slightly worse, Jake brown was way better. Cowan a bit worse. you would have to go through a lot of players. but still its not the same team and is missing 2 mashers in Jones and Frey and two aces. so this team cant really be compared to the talent on that squad.

Oh, the irony
Im surprised you are still able to walk after all the water you carried for mcmahon and O.
Also, yall not understanding the level of difficulty in sec baseball has nothing to do with my compliments or criticisms of jay.
Unlike you, you can find both from my posts. I dont one side shite like you

I don’t think this gets raised enough as a major factor. Who was the last pre-season top 5 team to miss the post-season? 2025 TAMU. What were they doing during the prior year’s portal window? Playing in the CWS finals.
Yes, I realize they also had their roster gutted and lost their HC but despite this the “experts” still viewed them as top 5 entering 2025 season. Missed the post season but 1 year later they are back as a legitimate contender to win it all.
