Bama, Ohio State, get it. It’s about the value of the Brand. The money Saban is paid is a drop in the bucket compared to what he brings into the program.

There really isn't a "Nick Saban" out there, except for a few guys like Urban Meyer, Dabo Sweeny and Chris Petersen, none of whom are genuinely interested in leaving their current programs.

There aren't any NFL coaches out there who are even plausible.

Other than Chip Kelly, there's nobody LSU can get who brings a "wow" factor that Saban did for Alabama.

McKeithen was a very pro LSU governor, he loved him some LSU football.

So pro LSU he wanted to give Jerry Stovall a 5th year after going 0-6 in the SEC

My point was a winning program regardless of the coach is important. The same goes for the converse. If Saban would have went 0-8 his first year he would have been canned too.

Miles kept the Brand alive although on life support at the end, he never did anything to completely damage the band. O may do that this year.

Consider this Ponamsky is a convicted felon and basically bought his way into LSU through his “recruiting website” and then on to the radio.

Gordy Rush fell for his bullshite and got him the access he used.

He just got off freakin probation May of 2016.

UNDERLICENSED NOBRA PILOT SENTENCED TO 18 MONTHS HOME-DETENTION FOR FALSIFYING LICENSE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEMay 17, 2011 DERECK E. PONAMSKY, age 36, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was sentenced today by U.S. District Court Judge Jay Zainey to five years probation with the special condition of 18 months home-detention, 100 hours of community service, and a fine of $6,000, for use of an altered Coast Guard license, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. PONAMSKY previously pled guilty on February 24, 2011 to presenting a forged U.S. Coast Guard license for employment as a First Class Pilot knowing that the Coast Guard license he presented had been altered to falsely include a First Class Pilot’s Endorsement and that he had never received this endorsement. PONAMSKY further admitted that he was issued a Merchant Mariner’s License by the United States Coast Guard, License No. 11199280, on June 16, 2005, authorizing him to serve as a Master of Steam or Motor Vessels of not more than 100 gross tons, which is the type of license issued to operate a tugboat. At no time was the defendant issued a First Class Pilot’s Endorsement. However, he presented to the New Orleans-Baton Rouge Steamship Pilots Association (NOBRA) located in Jefferson, Louisiana, a license which contained a First Class Pilot Endorsement. He worked as a NOBRA pilot from June 2005 until approximately February 2, 2008. NOBRA was unaware that the defendant did not have the proper licensure while employed by NOBRA. "The Coast Guard is dedicated to the protection of America's waterways and those who sail upon them. One of the fundamental tenets of safe navigation is having a properly licensed mariner responsible for the safe navigation of the vessel. When this principle is broken, the lives of all mariners and the marine environment are at risk. I am grateful to the Department of Justice for their hard work on this case and appreciate the synergy between our two agencies," said Rear Admiral Mary E. Landry, Eighth District Coast Guard Commander. This case was investigated criminally by the U. S. Coast Guard Criminal Investigative Services and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Dorothy Manning Taylor.

F King Alexander is a huge part of the problem. If you do some research on this guy and where he comes from you will quickly learn that he is a charlatan and a con artist from a family of con artists. The really embarrassing thing is that he evidently fooled he powers that be in this State into hiring him.

A bad basketball hire wont get the President and AD fired quickly. Football will.

Basketball pays for itself, but football pays for just about everything with the exception of B-ball and baseball.

If Tiger Stadium is empty for the remaining SEC home game, it will cost LSU more than O’s buyout. 2 years empty will be really bad.

O will finish he year regardless, but 8.5 mill is a drop in the bucket if Tiger Stadium is empty for 2 straight years

I said the same thing in another topic. LSU football is a gold mine. There not going to play around with the cash cow.

A lot of people thought it could work.

People I know and respect thought it could work. Talking to people outside of this board I was shocked by the amount of people that were ok with the hire.
