The Grove and the tailgating set-up, manner of dress, prevalence of beautiful women, etc., is very unique. The fact that they are able to cultivate that type of game-day excitement with relatively no football accomplishments of note since integration is pretty amazing (that’s a compliment).
If they do start to actually put hardware in the trophy case, it’ll go to another level.
OM was an early adopter of NIL (I personally know several members of the Grove Collective Board). They’ve built themselves for modern football.
They also have some inherent advantages at home. There is not a suitable hotel for the visiting team (that’s a real advantage). The same is true for opposing fans…it’s hard to stay in Oxford. Small stadium so less seats for visitors. They use these advantages well.
People outside of Mississippi don’t want to admit it, but OM has real money as well. There are plenty of fakes, but seeing the number of PJs flying in Thursday through Sunday on a game weekend makes you understand, there is real money at the school and they have bought in on winning.
That said, I genuinely hate them.

The weirdest thing to me about the whole experience was how the ole miss fans went from being very nice and welcoming to flipping a switch and being complete psychos once that late interception happened and they realized they’d actually won. I thought they’d be so happy to have won the game that the banter would have died down post game but that’s when it kicked up ten notches. I’m 40 and just wanted to walk to my car and after I got halfway out of the stadium I was genuinely convinced I was going to have to fight someone.

That frickin piped in music was the worst! It was about 90 decibels too loud!
It also seemed to go on too long after the teams were lined up over the ball.
And turning the stadium lights out for, seemingly, every time-out so they could have their LED wristband light show was a little much.

I’ve been wondering if Vaught Hemingway was any louder since they enclosed the stadium. Been to many Ole Miss games but haven’t been since 2017. It was always far and away the quietest road game I’ve seen LSU go into. Not surprised it’s mainly comprised of piped in music, certainly feels that way on tv

I was a few sections over from them and could barely hear them as well. Heard TGBFTL more, although that was normally drowned out. I suspect volume has to be turned up higher because isn’t built like a bowl and doesn’t contain noise as well.

Surely there are other areas that could accommodate tailgates. I only saw video but it looked absolutely miserable.

I'm old-school, but I liked it better in the 1960's and '70s when we played road games vs Ole Miss and Miss. St in Jackson. I guess that's off the table nowadays, for various reasons
