...is there anyone you can honestly say would do better here with the players we have/have had than CLM?
As frustrating and quirky as CLM can sometimes be, I cannot think of one coach I'd rather have at LSU with the talent we've got than him. And that includes N. Saban (I appreciate what he did at LSU, but he's Tiger Bait now).

Dantonio could not handle the pressure physically of being the head coach of LSU more than two years IMO.

we have miserable fans. We prob would have killed him. shite the dumb arse rumors about miles cheating on his wife would have been enough.

Would Dantonio even get Miles players?

There will come a day, Probably within a few years of his retirement that LSU fans will not have to consult with other LSU fans to realize (or seek justification for the fact) that Les Miles was/is the greatest LSU Coach of all time.

Long Live the Hat!!

This. He'll finish as the greatest LSU Coach of all time. He'll deserve buildings and a street named after him.

Saban is a better overall coach, sure, but Les will give LSU 10-15 years of solid, high level football.

Read the list of underclass players at the NFL Combine year after year. That would answer the question. LSU always has a lot of talent leaving early. Other teams do as well. LSU remains an SEC team with 10-11 wins in a tough conference. They love Miles and play for him but leave when they have been well prepared by his staff.

IMO Les Miles is a great who yearly produces great teams.

Yes. I think he is a better coach, however he would have a hard time continueing the Miles recruiting pipeline, so it would take a while

Dantonio likely doesn't get the same players that Coach Miles does.

I know almost nothing about Dantonio other than he's a talented coach. I doubt a lot of kids even know who he is. But everyone knows Les Miles.

I don't care for this premise. Recruiting is a huge part of college coaching. You can't separate them. If you are going to be fair, ask if dantonio would do better than Les at LSU with the players dantonio would be able to recruit for himself.

I was reading through to see if someone had made this point. You're right on.

I started hating the Mich St fans a month ago. They final do something, and they have to act an arse. This crap about "well, we beat Michigan and OSU with 2 and 3 stars, so what does that say about your program" and all the "Dantonio is a top 3 coach because he coaches up 2s and 3s, into champions" is getting ridiculous. Be at the top 3 of your shitty league for 5 years straight, then we can talk.

Hell Oklahoma fans are almost bad in saying that the SEC is garbage because it's two best teams lost in the biggest bowl games. Boy they are running wild with the assumption that Stoops is better than Saban. Even when you point to the last 7 years, they say, "but what have you done lately". My brain hurts from the explosion of stupid I read sometimes.

Aren't we looking at a successful B1G coach in the SEC right now?

One thing I notice is the older players are placing blame on the young guys. Sounds familiar. Place blame on anyone but yourself. One thing I admire an miles is he puts it on himself. Les is the best coach we have ever had. Just think if he bolted for Michigan. LSU would just be a stepping stone job. Plus the coaches love him. What if Wilson was somewhere else? he ain't going anywhere because he Loves Les.
