Well where are all the folks that say "with the talent at LSU miles should be winning and winning more. Anyone could win with the players we get. "? I don't agree with that but it is a popular opinion. Also "no discipline" hate that one too.

Here's another good question: Did you know that Ole McDonald was a terrible speller?

Les is a great coach for LSU. He's a players coach, great recruiter and contrary to popular belief, he wins a shite ton of games because of his coaching ability. That being said, any short comings he has with regards to X's and O's, he makes up for with solid assistant coach hires, which he shoulf get credit for. Guys like Saban and Dantonio are prototipical head coaches. Meaning, they don't need talented coaches around them, because they are great with regard to schemes, game planning and in game adjustments. The fact is, coaches like Saban and Bryant come around once in a generation, Alabama was fortunate enough to get both. It is what it is.

Not that it matters much, but I am seeing license plates using the word 'alumni' quite much. The word 'alumni' is plural--'alumnus' is singular, even if you graduated twice (like I did from the University of South Alabama). The word 'alum' is a chemical term--short for hydrated potassium aluminium sulfate. Now if you are referring to a graduate as a chemical, you are correct.

Its really an unanswerable and silly question. LSU has had remarkable talent in recent years and a limited number of coaches could have had comparable success. Some may have exceeded the success Les has achieved. But the list of coaches is rather short.
That's the answer.
FYI, Mark Dantonio is not one of the coaches I had in mind.

Saban is a better overall coach
Miles can't recruit the way Saben can, no coach in college football today can. Pete Carroll came close at USC (amazonly enough, with small recruiting classes due to not processing players.
If he would have processed I believe he would have been on par with Saben). Other than recruiting, I would go with Miles. Just as good a coach and way better person.

Dear Lord it's Saban not Saben

Would Dantonio even get Miles players?
Dantonio can't even get Dantonio's players.

As a previous poster said.. I don't think there are any coaches I would take a chance on over Miles except for Saban, Meyer, and Carroll. Even then it's pretty razor thin IMO.

Miles is even better at developing the talent than recruiting it. His rivals recruiting class rankings starting with his first class in 2005: 22,7,4,11,2,6,6,18,6. Solid, but not great. But I think that worm has turned starting with the 2014 class. I think he is going to pull great classes from here on out. Seems that the negative vibe has been crushed.
He won 3 SEC west titles, 2 SEC championships, went to two NC games winning one of them. He's put a huge number of players into the NFL. He's done pretty well with what he has had to work with. He's proven to be a great developer of players. I think that is one of his stengths as a coach that is often overlooked.

Might be better to actually type Coach Urban Meyer than abbreviate in this instance lol.

Les is a damn good combination of recruiting and coaching. We are lucky to have him, and I take him over dantonio every day of the week. Even Saturday.
Let the church say, amen!

There are only 2 current college coaches that are in the Miles realm. The Minion of T Town and David Shaw.

"Would Dantonio do better than Miles at LSU with the same players?"
doing better than miles in the past 10 years would be very difficult.
however, because he is such a good recruiter, i'm certain that dantonio and a few others would have great success with these players.

The same players makes this a conversation about nothing. This is like saying she wouldve married me if I had the same money or looks.
If u are asking would Dantonio do a better overall job than Miles at LSU the answer is no.
