My Billy Cannon Story.

I will try to make this short. My son is named Kannon after Billy Cannon. His birthday was May 13th and he turned 9 this year.
The bigger part of the story for me and my family is Billy worked for my grandfather when he was in high school and my grandfather had a meat plant in Baton Rouge. My grandfather said just about every day at lunch someone would challenge Billy to a race. Billy would race anybody who tried him for a couple of bucks. They would go out back in the parking lot and Billy would run barefooted. My grandfather said he never lost to anyone.
I have a jersey and a football both signed To Kannon from Billy Cannon.
He had a friendship with my grandfather that lasted a number of years and he has obviously meant a lot to our family. I wish his family the very best and I am so sorry for their loss and the loss for Tiger Nation.

Cool story, bro. But for once, this isn't meant sarcastically. Truly a cool story.

Cool story, Dr. Cannon worked under my Grandfather during the summers while at LSU. I have a photo of Dr. Cannon and my grandfather at my grandfathers house in BR right after he got the Heisman !
ETA, with his Silver Heisman !

I mean it's pretty bad. I want to honor the man but I'm gonna come up with my own ducked up spelling.
That said, I liked the story otherwise.

If someone wants to name a kid after Billy Cannon, name him “Cannon” or “William” as a first or middle name or maybe even “William Cannon _______”?
Spelling it “Kannon” is dafty.
The kid is simply not named after Cannon.
*Exception given would be if the exact spelled name “Kannon” was a historical family surname.
In this case, the OP didn’t indicate anything like that.

I’m thinking about naming my first born “Jamarkus” after my 2nd favorite LSU football player.
Hoping you don’t steal it.

I usually avoid posting in threads like this, but the crystallization of the message is so obvious and pure.
The Rant is a place to avoid.
Why downvote the original post?
Why make fun of any person's selection of a name for their child?
Blow the place up and start anew.
Ask for proof of driver's license and high school diploma.
What a waste.

If he is going to offer up his kids name, and said name is dumb, people are going to dog it. And rightly so. All he had to do was say his kid was named after Billy Cannon. He clearly thinks his kids name is cool and wants it out there. That's fine. But don't act like we all have to agree with the dumb name. It's a message board. We are not overflowing will manners here.
