My Billy Cannon Story.

Posted by jknight13 on 5/20/18 at 9:43 pm
I will try to make this short. My son is named Kannon after Billy Cannon. His birthday was May 13th and he turned 9 this year.

The bigger part of the story for me and my family is Billy worked for my grandfather when he was in high school and my grandfather had a meat plant in Baton Rouge. My grandfather said just about every day at lunch someone would challenge Billy to a race. Billy would race anybody who tried him for a couple of bucks. They would go out back in the parking lot and Billy would run barefooted. My grandfather said he never lost to anyone.

I have a jersey and a football both signed To Kannon from Billy Cannon.

He had a friendship with my grandfather that lasted a number of years and he has obviously meant a lot to our family. I wish his family the very best and I am so sorry for their loss and the loss for Tiger Nation.
Another interesting point, the plane is owned by Air Med Services which is owned by Acadian Ambulance which is owned by Richard Zuschlag.

I am a little bored and thought I would do some research.

This article was posted a while back and I am sure everyone read it.

So I looked at the next flight tracker link and this plane has been busy. Stops in Houston, Arlington, and Purdue this month. The Purdue trip could have been a "thanks for your service" trip for CLM since he is rumored to be involved in their search.

He is from Washington state.

Again, not saying he is a lock or anything, and maybe they did talk to him, but it would seem they could sell what we have now that Richt is gone and most of the other schools in the country either have their qb on the roster or committed.

Sorry, didn't realize you were the Jacob Eason expert on the board.

I am just saying it is worth a call or a visit to try to pursue the option.
Based on his frame and size, I think he could add 30-40 lbs in muscle and weight and be a hell of a DT. I think he may be a little slow to be a good pass rushing DE, but he can certainly be a good run stuffer.

So, most everyone is in agreement the ship has sailed on Franks and I am fine with it. I want kids playing for the Tigers because they love it there, not because they had no other options.

But a thought, Eason is looking around and his qb coach said he did not want to go to Miami because of an existing starter who will be a junior who is solid at the starter and an incoming qb commit. But why would LSU not go after Eason instead of Franks at this point? I know the obvious reasons of the offense doesn't throw it and all, but we have no current qb commit and I would sell him on the fact he would have the chance to win the job for a potential NC team.

Getting new coaches around him is not going to work if he doesn't let them coach, particularly on offense. On defense I think he is smart enough to realize he needs to let someone else take the wheel, the problem is he chose the wrong driver.

And to your point about other coaches, I would happily take Gary Patterson, Art Briles, Mike Gundy, Kliff Kinsbury, Jim Mora, Kyle Whittingham, and potentially Dino Babers, Tom Herman, and Justin Fuente. All those guys I think would take the job in a minute.
I think what you are saying is good and smart, with one flaw. While those offenses weren't great with lesser players, they still ran the same offense, the players were just not as good at producing on the field. Jimbo runs his offense no matter who is out there. He expects his QBs to learn it and if they can't, see the Mcguire and Golsen saga this year, then he finds someone who can, see RS freshman Winston starting over Coker.

Just to clarify, the Miles offense we have been running for 10 years is not good.
"In fact the very next season after Pic-6-'08 attempts didn't drop off drastically enough to support the "Lee scared Miles" agenda IMO."

If you are scared, go to the PAC 12 or ACC. The SEC is where the best of the best come to play. These kids come to win NCs and to get drafted. I seriously cannot figure out how we continue to bring in WRs like Dural, Dupre, and Johnson.
Sorry, missed 12 and 13, the other poster added them and they are in line with 14 and 15. But can you really go back to 12 and 13 and think they were any better than what we are seeing now?
So let's play a little game called past stats.

Crowton
La Tech from 96-98
Pass attempts per game = 46
Pass yards per game = 378 (including 432 in 98)

LSU from 07-10
Pass attempts per game = 27
Pass yards per game = 190

Stud, you can't look at that shite storm, plus he was a lifetime OL coach.

Cameron
Indiana from 97-01
Pass attempts per game = 27
Pass yards per game = 188

LSU 14 & 15
Pass attempts per game = 20
Pass yards per game = 164

These are two guys who are supposed to be calling the offensive plays and yet both of them drastically changed their numbers with far superior talent to what they had at previous schools.

Just to give you a frame of reference, Kiffin at UT and USC was 34 attempts for 262 yards. Kiffin at Bama, 31 attempts for 248 yards.

This isn't an OC problem. It is a HC problem.
First, a couple of things. I don't post much here because I see what some of the posters get for expressing opinions and in a lot of cases, rightly so. I have been an LSU fan for 33 years and I am neither a Miles hater nor lover.

Miles and the staff do a very good job of recruiting and consistently bring in as much talent as any program in the country. I also think they do a good job of developing the talent they have, even at QB. Most freshman QBs are not good and the team has to deal with problems. Tebow, Newton, and many others did not start as a freshman. Others who did, had growing pains. The ones who succeed highly are generational players or have an offense that lends itself to staying away from issues.

What I saw saturday night is the same thing I have seen for a number of years out of the program. The talent LSU puts on the field is good enough to win 95% of the games played, period. The team can line up and cram the ball down the throat of the defense and not blink an eye, assuming there are no turnovers. However, Bama is the one team every year that has equal to or greater talent than LSU has. This year, across the board, it is pretty close to even with Bama having the edge on the defensive line and LSU having the edge on the offensive line, RBs, and WRs. The difference then comes from coaching.

The Alabama defense, like all Saban defenses, is built to stop the run. This year they are better than ever. They are specifically build around power and to force teams away from the inside run game. They line up 3 to 4 300 plus pound defensive lineman and want them to occupy blocks and allow the linebackers and safeties to pursue from the gaps and around the outside. They want to choke the life out of a running game. And they did it.

The reason they were able to do it is not because our line isn't good enough to block them or they are far superior, like all the talking heads want to say, but because the LSU coaching staff refuses to make adjustments either for the game as a whole or at least in the second half. No one can expect LF7 to pick up 5-7 ypc if there are no holes to run through. According to Tiger Tracks, LF7 ran 17 times excluding the goal line carries, and Bama had 7 or more defenders in the box on 12 of them. When you look at double teams on players and a few missed assignments, that means there is always at least 1 free defender to make the tackle. For a good tackling defense, those are odds you want. In a game against Bama, LSU should very rarely run out of the I formation. They should almost always have 2 or more WRs in the game. Force the defense to spread out.

If you want to see how it works, all you had to do is watch Bama on offense. Henry got most of his yards from the pistol or zone read formations with 2 or 3 WRs in the game. It forced the LSU defense to play with 4 DL and 2 LBs.

LSU still has a very young team in large part. In looking at the starters for the game, they will lose Gordon and Alexander on offense for sure. Possibly Hawkins. On defense, Mills, Jones, Louis, and Thomas are gone and maybe Beckwith, Neal, and White. But almost all of those players are replaceable with kids as good or better by next year. But, with all the talent coming back, there is no way they beat Bama continuing to do the same ole thing.

I love LSU and always will, I just want to see LSU come out with a game plan that will showcase the athletes and talent on the team. Some people point to Miles or Cameron or others, but the truth is it is the whole staff. They have to do better as a group. Saban let's Kiffen do what he needs to with the offense and they win because of it. It is time for Miles to either take the cuffs off Cameron or find someone who he trusts enough to.

elprez00, you have to be honest with your owners. If not, they will never trust you. I am not that harsh, but I am always honest. And yes, I would bet the LD's are probably in the $10k-$15k a day range.

As for the process, I am sure they are doing as much on the rough ins as they can in order to be able to install finishes as close to the dry in date as possible. If you look past the photos where they are showing the concrete work, they already have a lot of the metal stud framing done on the lower levels and it looks like the electrical and glass is coming up closely. Once the building is dried in, they will start with drywall and some of the lower floors will be completed when or before the final concrete is poured up top. Also remember, when they pour the final concrete on top, there is very little to be done besides putting up handrails and bleachers.

They will be ready in time. I am in the construction industry and I am sure there are liquidated damages for not finishing on time. They did not wait until 6 months ahead of time to figure out they are not going to make it.

Now I am sure I will probably get run for this, but unless you have built something more than a birdhouse in the 6th grade, how about you trust in the professionals on this one.
Palm Beach, Who you? I graduated in 1997.
Yeah, I am one of those Franklinton Knights.

I actually went to school with his mother which is tough to imagine right now. I am not sure what the relation to Terrence is but I am sure there is one. I have been gone from there for 15 years so I really don't have any inside information, but generally speaking Franklinton is a very Pro-LSU town. I hope we get him.
