Did you stay in the game thread until the end of the game, or bail when there was nothing left to complain about? We all know the answer, but I’m curious how your addled mind will try to spin it.

quote:It's a different game than when Skip was here. Back then, you had the tight scholarship limits, combined with the fact that regionals were fricking warzones where you may end up pitching your left-fielder. And if you got through the regional, you faced the same situation, but this time against all very good teams.
Perhaps I’m harder to please than I should be and I am definitely spoiled from growing up during a different baseball era when Bertman was dominating.
I see a 7-3 win today and am happy about the outcome. I also see what it actually may mean for their ability to make Omaha and win there. Again, I’m spoiled.
Now, if you're LSU- 2 good pitchers, 2 different guys capable of being Sunday starters, and a few bats able to eat up 2nd tier pitching, you're a heavy favorite to win it all. Anderson and Eyanson get us to the winners bracket in the regionals and the first week of the CWS, Shores and Evans gives us 2 chances to win those. Anderson and Eyanson gets us through the Supers and the championship series.

3-5 enough reason to leave in 1 spot? Does that answer your fricking question? He’s was playing high school baseball a year ago, he’s earned a little slack to work it out

Texas got swept by Arkansas and lost a home series to Florida. Arkansas lost 4 of 5 series before this weekend. Georgia got shut out at home yesterday by A&M and went 7-8 on the road in conference play like LSU, including getting swept twice. Auburn was 5-10 on the road in league play, also swept twice. Vandy got swept at home by Arkansas and lost 3 of 5 road series like LSU (though they did go 8-7). UNC lost a home series to RPI #49 Stanford and was shut out 5-0 in a road series loss to RPI #29 Louisville, ending up 18-11 in a weaker conference. FSU lost home series to UNC and Wake. Oregon lost 12 games to Q3/4 teams including a series to 13-37 Ohio State. UCLA is only 3-7 against Q1 with 7 losses to Q3/4. Oregon State is 3-7 against RPI Top 30 teams and lost a series to RPI #64 Nebraska, including a 16-7 loss. WVU lost 5 of their last 6 Big 12 games including getting swept at home. What does that mean for the chances in Omaha of all those teams? Am I missing anybody?

You've got me wrong. I have been a huge baseball fan for over 35 years. I ALWAYS pull for LSU. Was a season ticket holder over 25 years. I see the issues with this team with hitting and pitching. Sc is a bad team, and we should have dominated....but that's not why I say we have issues. I'm a realist. Trust me, I hope they prove me wrong...because I'd rather be wrong and hang another banner.

Yep and he earned a little more leeway today in my estimation….hopefully he can keep it going.

I didn't read all that but if you trying to say we have a chance because everyone else sucks ok....maybe we do...but we aren't near the team we were in 23....but maybe there is no one out there as good as some of the teams in Omaha I. 23.

We are a better pitching team than 23 overall….obviously there’s no Skenes but overall we pitch better.
Now hitting is a different story BUT that team got in an offensive groove in the postseason….maybe this one can too.
ETA
Imagine what we could do if Milam and Hernandez got hot and Dickinson continues to trend back to earlier season form.

Regular season LSU wasn’t near the team postseason LSU was in 2023 either. I don’t think you can make that comparison until the year is complete. But, yes, my point is that everyone has questionable results this season, far more “troubling” than a 7-3 road win. Even if this team isn’t as good as the 2023 team, it doesn’t look like they have to be.

Texas was good until injuries hit them.

See, this is my frustration with all the negativity too. The usual suspects probably don’t know any of that nor do they watch college baseball outside of LSU and it’s obvious. They have this perception that the best teams are flawless. There’s no frame of reference for their comparisons other than what they make up as an ideal.
Watch the games! Nobody is without deficiencies. This idea that we need 5 shutdown starters, 8 bullpen guys who are stoppers, and an offense that scores 10 runs per game is ridiculous. Nobody has that.
