Part of the reason he is getting good such results is where he is in the lineup.

This. He will get pitched differently at the top of the order.

He would still have the same guys batting behind him.

I’m one of those “if it’s working don’t mess with it” kind of guys. He’s relishing hitting in the “2nd lead off position”…leave him alone.

Is something wrong with being the 9th

Not at all. Like others have said it’s working.

But his OPS in SEC games is at an elite level right now so it makes more sense to put him in a spot where guys are more likely to be on base when he comes up imo. Especially when outside of a couple games dating back to the Oklahoma series runs have seemed to be at a premium.

I’m happy wherever the put him, but if we are at the point where some juggling of the lineup is in order to jumpstart the offense then there is an argument to be made for moving him up.

I trust that CJJ will figure it out before the season is over. His teams feel like they get better toward the end of the season.

Stanfield in the 9 hole is a luxury. But it's a luxury that we cannot afford when the rest of the lineup is struggling. Yes, hes been performing well in the 9 hole but right now we have to rely on him to do more and take more plate appearances. I think he will handle the leadoff role just fine and we all know Jay likes lefties batting 2nd so Stanfield followed by Curiel makes a lot of sense

Stanfield at 9 is important because he flips the lineup to Curiel and you potentially give guys like Milam Jones Brown and Dickinson chances with runners on base.

Getting pitched 9th is different than getting pitched higher in the lineup. I’d imagine he gets a lot more strikes and fastballs at 9th than in another spot.

But it isn't. It's working for Stanfield but it isn't working for the team. Right now he needs to be tested with taking on a bigger role which is more plate appearances. I think he will step up. And maybe moving someone else like Milam to the 9 hole will help him get going.

It's always so short sighted to look at these things from the lens of how one specific player is performing. The lineup consists of 9 guys. You aren't going to win based on the performance of one in baseball

how many times have we seen an inning look like shite besides a Stanfield double with two outs and curiel comes up next to drive him in...those guys have to be batting one after or before the other. all of our innings where we only score once is almost always a solo Homer or tied to one of those guys

if we were to move Stanfield we would move him to leadoff imo. my lineup would be .

Stanfield
curiel
Dickinson
brown
Jones
milam
brasswell
Frey

then you can pinch hit Pearson or start him over Frey depending on matchup. I'd like to see the beat contact guys bunched up for a few games

I like the idea of Curiel leading off and Stanfield in the 9 as a second leadoff type.

Those are the 2 spots I wouldn't mess with since they are working.

I love having Stanield at 9…. Puts a speedy runner OB when the top of the lineup rolls around. It’s effectively a pre-leadoff hitter.

He would accomplish the same thing as the actual leadoff hitter and would get an additional PA in most games. Why sacrifice having him set up the top of the order to begin the game?

Was about to same thing. Batting 9th hasn't nothing to do with stats. He has Stanfield at 9th because it's like having 2 leadoff hitters and they are on base for the big bats. Stanfield will only bat 9th his first ab

We need him to remain in the 9 hole. You gotta have him on base when the lineup turns over for Curiel, Dick, Jones

I can’t believe the amount of like this has gotten. If you love him up his stats probably go down. They will pitch him way different.

I personally love having a guy batting #9 that gets on base. But this is usually when our 5-8 isnt shite.
