O is a master of listening to the fans' complaints and answering them...even if it is solely to appease the fans and does not really have much of a purpose in the scheme of things.
while it was entertaining, that play was run solely to scratch "motion" off the list of things to do this season.

It also put our best linemen together and our best player the ball for 6 yards on first down.

I don't have a gif but you may see the play here at 0:21. You can clearly hear the crowd's reaction.
I have to laugh, I also started a thread about the first play and the X-Box crowd butchered me.
The last time I looked I had scored 53 downvotes, my new all-time high. 
Some comments made were:
"I doubt Canada gives a flying frick what our fans want."
"The coaches don't give a shite about the fans."
and my personal favorite -
"This is literally the dumbest post in the history of TD."
