I always felt like Nicholas Pontiff, Grant Dozar and Tyler Moore randomly had a lot of clutch HRs/hits.

Great thread.

Someone mentioned him already, but Chris Cotton was the closer that I felt most confident with when he took the mound. Nobody could hit his curve, which he usually threw for a strike.

Brad Hawpe cause the dude dropped absolute nukes when he got ahold of one. Plenty of underrated guys though who were over shadowed because they played alongside some of the greatest college players who ever lived.

Rich Cordani - my favorite player on one of the early 90’s team. Hit a clutch home run against USC in the regional finals to send LSU to Omaha. USC had an awesome team and one of the Boone guys had a massive regional. Hit like 5 home runs in the regional. Sorry if my memory is a little off on exact details, but it was incredible regional and Cordani was one of the heroes.

Cordani was a gamer.

Bret Boone was crazy in that regional. All 3 of those games vs USC were so intense

His work against Witcha State in the '96 CWS was critical. If LSU losses, no natty.

Detterman for sure. Remember when he flipped the ball behind him while walking off the mound?

Albert Belle. I don’t know why but he is never ever talked about. Probably one of the best MLB players to come out of LSU. What is the story with that?

Yep. Shipp was an absolute workhorse. You knew any time he got the ball, we had a really good shot

Mike Koerner and Joey Painich. Two critical pieces during the heart of the LSU Dynasty run.
