Idk Josh Smith freaking raked his last year at LSU. His success isn’t too surprising to me.

DJ LeMahieu

I would have said Austin Nola becoming a starting MLB Catcher was the surprising post LSU career for baseball....DJ was a legit player and had extreme athletic ability and size.

He was highly recruited out of high school and had a game tailored to the nba.

There was zero surprise he would do well.

I'd say there was *some* surprise. Naz went from 5 star to undrafted after his freshman year.

You would’ve thought a 1st rounder that was on the same LSU team as him would’ve had a career like that . (Marcus spears )

Spears played 9 years in the NFL. Not like he didn't have a decent career.

You should have said Lavalais, who was the National Defensive Player of the Year his senior year in 2003, and he lasted 2 years in the NFL before being cut and not playing again.

CEH--I thought he would have been a stud for KC, relegated to backup duty.

Lavalais wasn’t highly thought of . Hence he was drafted in the 5th round just like Williams was . He benefited from the players around him in college. No ones shocked how his career went

Yes, some guys flash in college, leave early and then do not a thing in the NFL. Blue is the opposite. Partly because of injuries and the crowded RB room at the time, Blue was always 3rd-5th on the depth chart and like a year into the league he was the feature back for the Texans. Good for him!

David Woodley. Split time at QB with Steve Ensminger at LSU, while never truly winning the QB role. Was drafted in the 8th round by the Dolphin, and in his rookie season, was not only the starter, but named the Dolphins MVP. 2 years later, he is the youngest starting quarterback ever to start in the Super Bowl.

fricker was 8-23 in FG attempts at LSU then kicked for 7 years in the NFL.

Right?

Just shows he wasn’t getting coached up at LSU.

I watched him kick at Carencro HS and was amazed at how good he was, he really was disappointing at LSU, I'd have to think that was a factor

My dad always bitched about Hookfin. I think he was an early Saban guy but idk cuz I was young. No idea his first name either. I only know him as “GOD DAMNIT HOOKFIN!”

Demetrius Hookfin...he got burnt notoriously often in the secondary! Funny thing is they chose this picture of him "defending" Kelly Washington who ate him up for the cover of this book!

6 pages an y'all forgot about #49 for the P&G .....was working as a Janitor/Bible School teacher/FB coach before being called up by the Patriots for his 14th year in the NFL. Super Bowl Champion, great leader of men, and a solid dude. Not bad for someone drafted in the 12th rd. and only caught 2 passes for 15 yds during his first 3 years in the League. Having LS skills definitely increased his longevity and career.

Russell Gage is such a good answer. Didn't even play WR at first.

I can remember watching every single person listed, except Gage, I truly do not remember ever seeing him. Career stats at LSU -- 26 catches / 347 yards / 4 TDs

Now he has been spent 7 years catching 50-70 balls a year with 4-5 TDs making tens of millions.
